  1. I See Oscar Pistorius is out. 11 years inside for the murder of his girlfriend (I’m sure you all remember) Absolute joke, imagine if it was your daughter/niece/auntie.
  2. Yes, revs high, steady pace, create a bow wave in front of you.
  3. No, but you never know!
  4. @Mark Bolam I so wish I had thought of saying that!
  5. Priced a decent size oak tree fallen on a kennels (no dogs hurt) Couple of days, awkward but doable, priced it at €2100 plus the vat. Get an email from the insurance company saying they want a more detailed breakdown of costs, amount of waste taken away, methodology all that crap. So I send a slightly more detailed one, they say that’s not enough, so I say that’s all you’re getting, that’s the last quote I’m writing. Then they call me saying their ‘expert’ has estimated costs at €1400, but they’re prepared to put another €300 on it in order to get it moving, what do I think? Bloke sounded about 20 years old. Told them to find someone else or pay the €2100. Do they think I came down in the last shower? Even the wife agreed with me on this one.
  6. One year on. Zero issues, starts, chips as well as ever. 2 oil changes, a few blade changes, that’s it. Dream of a chipper.
  7. Funny little dog Igor, likes his own armchair, emotionally robust, not very demonstrative. But every now and then he’ll come over and lay on me with his eyes closed, just for 10 minutes or so, then back to his own chair..
  8. Where are these trees?
  9. It’s technically a hardwood, but yes very light, so if yours is heavy then no. Why isn’t it Robinia Pseudoacacia?
  10. Ailanthus?
  11. I had impacted ones so had to be put under general anaesthetic. It started my 35 year love affair with painkillers.
  12. Wisdom teeth removal remains the most pain I’ve ever had. 30 years later I still shudder.
  13. If it’s just a local anaesthetic then yes.

It’s good to have an imagination certainly.

JFC. No it doesn’t, your money goes into the public purse till you’re fed up of paying and buy a compliant vehicle. If they stopped non compliant vehicles straight away there’d be chaos and supply lines would break, and people like you would say ‘there had to have been a more intelligent solution!’
  16. I suspect like France the UK coppers act differently on major roads. The A1 is just such. Better get your ducks in a row when you’re on there.

I don’t like the bloke, but I doubt he cares much about the tribulations of some rural dwellers whose occasional forays into London are inconvenienced by forking out a few quid. He is more focused on his populace, usually the poorest families, who live near major routes and suffer health issues because of it.
  18. It does appear that he was just doing his job, and even displayed a bit of common sense.
  19. The reddish one is purple plum. The first one possibly lime with some ash underneath.
  20. You can see the wind from the vids. complicates stuff. Nice work.
  21. Madness. Joke music, same level as The Barron Knights.
  22. I don’t think you’ll see any significant drop in prices, if you need it, buy it.
  23. It’s up to you of course. But I get kind of pissed off by work like this being done in an inefficient way. This needs a couple of climbers, a decent chipper working all day and some kind of loader or digger and grapple to help the groundies get it processed as it drops. Rattle it off in three days easy. A site working like that, efficiently and productively, is a thing of beauty. One guy spending days and days doing everything for whatever reason is ridiculous.
