  1. Now there’s a job spec you never thought you’d see when you started in the industry.
  2. Every Sunday morning I’d be in the workshop, sharpening saws, changing blades etc. Just pottering really, Wrighty on the digital radio. He had certain songs he’d play regularly that you’d never hear anywhere else, quirky ones like this. I had no idea who sang it, I just Googled ‘Moses the cat song’
  3. How very sad. I feel like an old mate has died. RIP Wrighty.
  4. Some good, some bad. I will give my view on what I think has changed in the nearly 20 years since I left, for the better and the worse, as long as it is taken in the spirit it’s intended, not as an attack on either country.
  5. I remember when burning up your arisings from tree work was commonplace. Leylandii used to smoke a bit! Banning of wood burners would be a very hard sell here, so many houses use them, so much easy to process standing chestnut. can’t see it happening in my lifetime,
  6. That was the exact moment I was referring to! Albeit a few days earlier.
  7. A23 is bad, I came over via Newhaven, so A23 then the 272 to Billingshurst.
  8. I mean exposed HV ones or domestic insulated ones.
  9. What sort of power-lines?
  10. In reality it’s the only way to make any serious coin in the sector.
  11. On my recent trip back to Sussex I was struck (as I am on every visit) by how shabby and unkempt the verges and hedges are along the roads in comparison to here in France. Litter and shit everywhere, trees growing right up the the edge of the road, only the lorries striking them seems to keep them back. I think more cutting and trimming is needed not less.
  12. Srsly though. Get some gear and start on your own. Then you can choose whether to do something on a certain day or not.
  13. Holy thread resurrection! Vernon Kaye, a bit of a disappointment if I’m honest. Scott Mills ok, but rubbish features, Birthday game for example. One great thing about Steve Wright was he’d never let the public live on his show, never ask the boring bastard public to phone in and relate their boring life on his show. Even his celeb interviews were always pre-recorded and edited to cut out the crap bits.
  14. This popped up on FB. A pollard in Holland 1945 and 2023.

We’ll agree to differ. The laugh (for me at least) was not that he has cancer, but the euphemism used by the doctor to deliver the news. Black humour and all that. Either way William will almost certainly get longer at the crease than his old man.

    Comedy is subjective.

Oh I don’t know, I don’t think anyone would get upset by that one.
