  1. I used to look after a release pen for a couple of years when I was 16/17, went beating every Saturday for a few years. I actually wanted to be a gamekeeper, till I realised the servile nature of it. Kept ferrets etc. I was mostly used as a stop on pheasant drives, because of my age. In West Sussex we have ‘ghylls’ streams with steep banks either side wooded with overstood hornbeam coppice. Anyway me and another kid were stopping on the top of the banks and a pheasant flew over, the gun (stood at the bottom of the ghyll next to the stream) followed it and fired, catching the other kid in the face with a half dozen pellets. The gun (an upper middle class sort) was devastated, never really recovered, went round to see the parents, chucked his gun away etc. the kid carried the pellets for years, the docs not deeming it safe to retrieve them. I didn’t think too much of it at first, I actually envied the attention he got, but over the next few years I grew to be scared, not so much of shotguns, but me making a similar mistake with one, and I never wanted one. Pheasant shooting? Meh, not all that sporting imo, but no real objection.
  2. Be my guest, close to the bone I’ll admit, but at least it’s original.
  3. Never seen a GS on a shoot, well not since Schindlers List anyway.
  4. Good point.
  5. There was a bloke selling a TW150 somewhere recently. He put something along the lines of “more sought after than the later more complicated 230” I couldn’t let that go so I made some comment or other. I mean build it up a bit sure, but flat out bullshit is ridiculous.
  6. Hardly any work needed to finish……
  7. I started a thread somewhere about irritating ads. Saying ”regrettably” is one of those. You'll be over the bloody moon to see the last of that chicken shed off your front lawn and we all know it.
  8. Sounds like they both lost.
  9. Wordle 1,246 4/6 🟨⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟨⬜🟨⬜ 🟨⬜🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  10. Good as gold thanks Rich, back in his routine, loving life.
  11. It does get a bit sketchy climbing to the top of a triple pushed up against a tree, especially as mine has taken a bit of a battering, it really needs replacing in all honesty. I usually run with just 2 sections, bring the third for the odd tree that warrants it, plus it’s much easier to manhandle.
  12. ‘Buncha slack jawed faggots around here, this stuff (prussik loops) will make you a god-damned sexual Tyranosaurus…..just like me!’ ‘Strap this on your sore ass Blaine’
  13. I know right!?
  14. Ancient! Hardly worth filling your car up, cos….you know.
  15. How old is your ‘muchly saved’ body?
  16. #Scandigloom
  17. Next time I’m back in the UK I’m going to Marlow Ropes and getting me some Multiplat. Loved that stuff! Finish my career as I started.
  18. I use the ZZ occasionally, but the self tending pisses me off.
  19. Some lombardies to do terrible things to. They’re funny bastard trees, slightest bit of wind and your ring piece is doing contortions, but they chip nice and rig nice and cut nice so it all went well. Dave @5thelement came along to give us a hand and very thoughtfully brought a big sack of Yorkshire teabags from his recent trip back to the UK. Nice blue sky day, so took a few pics.
  20. Alright peeps. Tricky roadside lombardy today. Weathers in our favour, May for the last time for a while, so off we go! Better get off the chair and load the truck.
  21. In answer to your first sentence (a question) yes, I do.
  22. Minor derail Stubs, never fear. Heres a dog pic to restore equilibrium in the universe.
  23. This is the best Guinness ad. Every shot, every second is a masterpiece. Still moves me 34 years later. ”Don’t worry” I say “you’ll never lose”
  24. Haven’t gone through the whole thread, but thanks @Whoppa Choppa for finding it, thought it had been pulled. Afaik the guys name was Hap Johnson, champion climber etc.
  25. Useful to help light a fire.
