  1. Yeah, the garden waste appearing by magic is a classic.
  2. 31 hère, finished at 2 so not too bad. As long as we can see an end to the job it’s not too distressing. It’s the long hedge reductions or the like that cause tantrums.
  3. It actually failed in that a pinhole leak appeared later, but he reground and welded a snotter on it, dry as a bone now.
  4. When I get back Did you put the story in the ‘things that never happened’ file?
  5. No more goals would be a big disappointment. Like to see Kane put himself in pole position for the golden boot.
  6. Not sure what arm pump is exactly but... I’m guessing you’re inefficient in your movement. First buy a ladder. Then a couple of questions, are you completely free from the tree or alongside the trunk? Because it’s a lot easier if you have your feet on the trunk as you go up. Did you learn to thrust at college? Usually it takes a while to perfect it and often they’re not too fussed getting you any good before sending you out into the world like that, just that you can do it in theory. Thickness of rope can be an issue, modern thinner stretchy ropes are not conducive to the old fashioned methods.
  7. Nice, worth 26 minutes of my time, admittedly Serbia v Switzerland is not too absorbing. re. The cedar stump from long ago, reminded me of this photo I have on my wall. Thanks for posting.
  8. Some interesting points. I have always eschewed too much focus on websites, google rankings and all that jazz as modern fancy dan nonsense. I have a website from 15 years ago which is very dated but gets people to me if they look. Problem is the older sorts, who use local rags etc. Are dying or ceasing to eat solid food and hang on till they reach a toilet to let go, this means they don’t spend money as freely as spare income is taken up on expenses involved in boiling cabbage and prune consumption. As has been mentioned spread the budget, and ask how they found you. (Which I almost never do)
  9. That is very sad news, had a few interactions with him here and there, seemed like a smart guy.
  10. How about this for the insurance category?
  11. This recent one is rather pleasing visually I think. Taken on an iPhone.
  12. I would say the op is at least as culpable as the client. How much effort is it to say “ok, that’ll cost you 100 quid”
  13. Take what he’s offering. The difference is a small price to pay for your lesson learnt.
  14. I’d never use one, mind you Igor is a wilful little bastard. But I’d still never use one.
  15. Petrol engines don’t need the oil changing as often.
  16. If I’m honest I think you blokes are overdramatising it a bit. It’s just cutting down trees or similar, not relief work in Syria or working as a Prison Officer or the like. Either organise your work/quoting so you’re there for little Jimmy’s nativity or don’t. It’s your choice. They’re only trees. Plus there is an irony in discussing the demands of work on your family life whilst on a computer in the evening. ”You coming to bed love? I fancy getting intimate” ”be up in a bit, just talking with blokes I don’t know on the internet about the pressures of work on family life”
  17. All around Scotland there was silence except for a wailing and a gnashing of teeth.
  18. What’s the old saying. The despair I can deal with, it’s the hope that kills.
  19. Not their fault. We should have put this lot away by half time.
