  1. USA 94. Most attended WC ever (apparently) but never really caught fire, for me the games which were often played in the afternoon heat to suit European evening viewing were often laboured and leaden. Best side and the best players, Italy featuring Baggio and Baresi, lost in the final on penalties to a largely undeserving Brazil. It was summed up for me by Diana Ross’s penalty in the opening ceremony. Baggio (pictured) sublime genius.
  2. 1990 and as usual the Italians know how to throw a party. The best World Cup I can remember, great games, great goals and Nessun Dorma. Disappointing final but who can forget Platt’s winner against the Belgians? Or Roger Milla who so nearly masterminded England’s exit? Great drama. Fabulous finals.
  3. I get quite a few, from the ‘couple of glasses of wine with lunch’ sorts to the ‘plastered from midday onwards’ Doesn’t bother me, their money is as good as anyone’s.
  4. For sure, and fill it with Argon to prevent explosions (see pic) All done and back to work tomorrow
  5. Grinding off the weld, you can see the crack.
  6. Nods head in agreement... Plasma cutting off the bracket.
  7. ‘86 and finally some good memories! It’s easy to forget just how deadly a striker this bloke was. Finally we had a player to scare the opposition. Diego Maradona scored what I consider to be the greatest goal ever. England were out but at least we had a go! Tune in tomorrow night for Italia 90 ?
  8. ‘82, England were back! Probably shouldn’t have bothered. Tardelli wins it for Italy, celebrated in a very understated fashion.
  9. Anyway by ‘78 England still weren’t there! Scotland were (bizarrely) Peter Lorimer et al. Argentina won against a Cryuffless Dutch team. The Argies were particularly hairy at the time.
  10. I guarantee you it’s from the crack, we spent ages isolating it.
  11. By ‘74 (England had failed to qualify, knocked out in qualifying by Poland) I was an aspiring centre forward and idolised Gert Muller, he scored In the final, a classic encounter with both teams in iconic kits.
  12. It’s a football thread so don’t bother telling us how you hate football because it’s overpaid prima donnas etc. Yawn... Anyway with our regular disappointment coming along shortly, I thought I’d share my first World Cup memory. It was 1970, I was 6 and football mad, my parents got me out of bed to watch the quarter final against West Germany. I struggle to remember the details of the match (although I know now of course) though I know I cried as much in disbelief as anything. What was your first realisation of the curse of being an England fan?
  13. Interesting thread, glad I’m not a part of it. I can see it now. “The boss of the firm openly laughed at my suggestions at how I wanted my tree to be pruned” ”His Fox Terrier chased my cat up a tree” ”He said the quality of my tea would count against me on trip advisor” (I have actually said this) ”when I said I loved trees and hated to cut them down he said he was independently wealthy and continued to work because he hated trees so much” (used that one as well)
  14. It’s a long story John, involving a franchise in another country, too boring to go into. Redwood have been excellent in their service though, above and beyond.
  15. Not the first weld that has failed on the machine! Forst st8 bracket that holds the hydraulic oil filter on, its seeping oil out and tomorrow we will have the welding guy in to try and sort it out. It’s wearing a bit thin (my patience)
  16. Knives (by which you mean the thin bits of metal right?) As for its performance, it took some working out how to get the best out of it. It seems to prefer brambles and thicker brush to long grass which tends to wrap around it. I run it at around 2000rpm. I primarily bought it for around my own property, but I would like to make money with it. Overall a really good attachement. Well worth having.
  17. I’ve had not experience of a 5.3, mine a 8.4s @kevinjohnsonmbe has a 7.3 I think. I think access is the big issue. Really it’s for you to make the calculations re. Cost/size/lift ability. @Yorkshire Compact LoadersIs your man for more advice.
  18. Ok, too hurried to get a before picture but the flail reduced this area of waist high brambles to a tidy piece of ground in 15 minutes.
  19. Have you checked out this thread?
  20. Tell us in more detail about the sort of work you’re planning to do with it.
  21. He is a bit up himself, but the Lady Di/Alf routine is gold.
