  1. Well it doesn’t happen often, certainly not as often as in the UK where every square foot of space has extensions, conservatories etc. But I take your point. I usually just hire an extra pair of hands and charge accordingly.
  2. The modern “no reduction reduction” The “one size fits all” attitude to tree work no matter the species.
  3. Thanks Timon, shameless glory hunting on my part!
  4. All finished off by splitting the offcuts.
  5. Quick change, then spreading the chip on the paths.
  6. More hot fir action! Moving 2 mètre sections roadside.
  7. I’m not saying he’s a rogue or anything, if it works for him, great. I imagine if there’s crane hire, subbies booked, road closures etc. then something to ensure the client doesn’t cancel on a whim, or as has been said, interim payments, might be a good idea.
  8. I find the thickness is more comfortable in my hands. (no sniggering at the back!)
  9. Two of four tall firs to dismantle, chip and remove, went well today. Getting the branches to the chipper was a doddle. Timber lorry comes Thursday.
  10. I hope he survived, absolute nightmare.
  11. A get a few offering over here, as has been said, in tree work there’s no materials to be bought so I always politely decline. Ps.
  12. My situation exactly, after a lean spell I’ve had a few nice jobs come in, but I’m behind on last year.
  13. I know that roundabout fairly well. It is no picnic to negotiate in a vehicle.
  14. Maybe a redwing with the light on it.
  15. The continent would help! I've seached shrikes and thrushes, no matches yet.
  16. I know it’s boring, but it looks a bit like goat/grey willow. The bird is more interesting.
  17. You’ll have to explain the origins of the photo.
  18. Fork out for another man on the ground to help manage traffic.
  19. Buttercups in a poplar plantation leading to the Charente river.
  20. Why not phone them, ask for technical help and put the question to them? Saved yourself 8 days of waiting.
