  1. Good blog John, tractor and crane feed it is then!
  2. This might be worth a revisit..
  3. You ripped yourself off on this job, nobody but yourself to blame, don’t work for an hourly rate, price for the job.
  4. Let it go Dave. 2/3 days without hydraulic help (log stacking is a time eater) lot of technical rigging but nothing too tricky. 1.5 to 2K folding.
  5. Put it on Antiques Roadshow, can just see Fiona Bruce waving it about on Basic, Better and Best.
  6. This is one the client took of me up that cedar a a few weeks back.
  7. And take that little narrow gauge railway from Palma that goes through the mountains to the resort town on the other side of the island, that is well worth a couple of quid!
  8. Takes a couple of days to get into it, but yes, I hate leaving the house etc. After a bit I am into it and enjoy it. Don't take this the wrong way...but stay off here, it’ll only get you thinking about work.
  9. But what if you haven’t moved?
  10. You have to be realistic about this stuff. You cannot be all pleased with yourself about saving 20/30 quid on a new saw and then moan when your local dealer is less than thrilled about fixing stuff on warranty. Build a relationship with them, then when the shit hits the fan they will fix stuff there and then or give you a loaner.
  11. I find that by the time you’ve done all that roping, adjusting, in/out shake it all about stuff it’s quicker to use conventional rigging and take it in smaller pieces.
  12. I’m on an American forum, and because of Emerald Ash Borer, they’re losing ash by the million. A lot of the firms won’t climb them any more and will only use cherry pickers because of their perceived fragility when dead (even recently departed ones as well apparently) Not answered your question, but adding to the debate I guess.
  13. Yes, for an tree surgeon, as opposed to a logger, it will last a lifetime. Just use aspen or empty the fuel if you’re not using it for a while.
  14. I figured it was a street tree from the species and photos.
  15. I buy “chasse” (hunters) t shirts in the half dozen, hard wearing, cheap. When it’s hot I’ll take two or three to work.
  16. Well, I never heard of the bloke, but he sounded like a hell of a free thinker and innovator. Only a couple of years older than me. RIP.
  17. Credit where it’s due, Miley Cyrus is a talent.
  18. I’m not saying I wouldn’t (I should be so lucky)....just I’d prefer it if she refrained from singing, before, during and afterwards.
  19. Why is it pointless? Killers were good, Liam Gallagher was good, why is that pointless? Anyway Kylie....always overrated, had to go to one of her concerts once as a birthday present for my wife, mediocre at best. The Cure on later, should be worth a watch.
  20. My old boss wouldn’t have a blower, encouraged laziness he said. Mind you he didn’t hold with chippers, top handled saws, radios in work vehicles.....
  21. I’ll try and stay up for The Killers, I hadn’t realised how many good songs they have done till my younger groundy informed me. We listen to the radio, every time I say, “this is a good song, who’s this? ”it’s The Killers Mick” ”oh.. I like them!”
  22. She was bang average at her best.
