  4. I hope you don't mind but i gave this thread to the missus to read, She was training to be a councillor, but essex council in there wisdom decided to close the course and move it to the arse end of nowwhere (basildon). She started it because she was where some of you are/were and after having counsilling herself she thought to get training to eventually help others. She looked to doing it on a home uni course, but part time would have taken upto 12 years and many £0000s to complete. She still takes the happy pills.
  5. She took this pic from up the hill to show how the conifers are far above the oak canopy.
  6. Apologies for hyjacking your thread, sorry
  7. Some more,
  8. I think he used to run a logset forwarder. Hunters bridge! I should think it was there as name implies for hunt horses to get across in olden days, quite steep embankment if i remember. It was all overgrown the one time i climbed up to see where it went to. Got no plans to ever come back down that way, families, huh, need i say more, but if your ever up here give us a shout. Heres a couple of pics missus took xmas day in one of the estate woods, we were wondering what the conifers are, bloody huge and impresssive. Thinking of building a tree house up there for the bosses kids.
  9. Is there not enough so called brown sites, ripe for developement, or has that idea fallen by the wayside. So SSIs are not safe now.
  10. Somebody has too
  11. You old charmer
  12. Things must must have picked up for him these last few years, there was only him, jake and one other operator based in wales at the time, i think times were a bit lean. Nice to see them still going.
  13. Knowing him its still the same old van. Yep must say they were very good. Little fish must have been fresh out of nappies at the time. John pulled me and my ford 4000 out of some boggy rides more than once. I was gamekeeping at the time, off list i got them to widen some of the rides to let more light in so to try and dry em out. When they had finished the contract there was a part load of cord beech left, john said i could have it, lasted me 3 years.
  14. VI looking at your photos, is that treewood harvesting you use, thought i recognised the vw van. We used them years ago in north essex for a thinning job. Cant remember their names, father and son team, at the time his son was then learning to use the harvester whilst dad used the forwarder. If it is, when you see them again tell em nigel at lofts hall (at the time) says hi.
  15. Have got over 25years experience with mostly honda, from the trikes right through to the latest, polaris, and lately yamaha and suzuki. Also have knowledge of kubota, jcb, jd and kawasaki rtvs. PM me
  16. The missus wants us to buy a wood so that i can build a log cabin for our retirement.
  17. If i remember rightly raydon pits was on the hadleigh side of raydon, on the left before coming into raydon, whereas your wood is placed over the far side of raydon. I used to belong to the essex and suffolk border motorcyle club. We used to run trials between holton st mary, raydon and hadleigh a couple of times a year. You could get some of them pigeon scarring rockets and let em off when them pesky planes fly over, yes i am guilty of doing that in the past over a spitfire, that shakes em up,
  18. TVI Yep can remember trains running coal to hadleigh coal yard, once the railway had gone it was used as a footpath. we were always playing on there as kids, used to sit on the embankment and shoot street lights with air rifles at hadleigh end. The small footbridge was known as hunters bridge. We used to walk as far as that, playing in the various old workmens sheds along the line. And when i was in the TA used to regularly run as far as the level crossing and back. Memories eh!!
  19. Bit like our biomass system here, if it goes out, breaks down, oil boiler kicks in. There is a valve system built into it, any good plumbing company should be able to do that for you.
