  1. There are some vented bags on ebay under firewood processor £4 obo spalding
  2. Hi dont know where you are, but have you tried jas p wilson, they have 2 on there wedpage and they deliver all over country, or they may know of others
  3. I have been taught to use at least 2 coats of sand and seal, with fine sanding between coats to raise any wood fibres before varnishing. It works well in crookmaking.
  4. I scrouged 6 to try for storing logs for the biomass, we cut to 700 lengths, so i cut one side out of the frame so i could put the logs straight in from the logsplitter, and park the pallet beside the biomass and no reaching down over the frame. Only stacked em 2 high just incase. Couldnt get them cheaply delivered so we bought 50 vented dumpy sacks instead. The idea was to store em in the barns till needed and keep at least 8 outside near the bio, considering we can burn a crate full a day easy.
  5. P.S. gonna have a look at your website
  6. Thanks for that, think i will trawl the net, but i suppose in the end it will either be an axminster or record for the quality.
  7. Sorry for taking a time to reply, but had to reboot this computer, then had probs logging in on the site. I would like a variable speed. The missus would be content in spindle work but i would like to do more bowl work. Lathes seem to be a minefield
  8. Steve, was looking at the record CL4 lathe, they are on offer till end december, what do you or anyone else think
  9. Yeh, i have a double camping gas stove and sausepan in the garage and had a go at dipping some pieces of holly for another year
  10. Well the example he shew in his workshop was a bowl blank and it had two layers of paper round what was not going to be the top and bottom of the bowl. You will have to excuse my lack of knowledge but we have only been turning for a couple of months if that. I know the club spends the odd sunday prepping wood, and dipping it in melted wax, but i have not been on one yet to see what they do.
  11. Our tutor says layers of watered down pva and newspaper
  12. Flexi, have tried bidding for some axminsters last week, but you have to be realistic allowing for courier costs. May end up buying new. Variable speed would be nice, we will see, what ever i do will get ear bashing from her.
  13. Lovelly!!! me and the missus turned our first bowls this week on our woodturning course. Would like to invest in a proper lathe, you get spoilt at the club with axminster and jet. Got a set of 6 sorby chisels to sell (67HS), unused, £100
  14. You will find it under firewood processor, last time i looked it was at £67, they say it fits a palax 70 and 90.
  15. We have a Rebaud bundler and log splitter system and hated it from day one. We need to produce loads for the biomass, and it was not quick enough. So now up for sale. We tried a muck grab at first, then pallet tines set narrow but then went for a round bale sqeezer which works really well.
