  2. Ooooh a metal turning lathe, I did metal turning as part of my apprenticeship 40 years ago, never touched a lathe again until about 10 years ago when I bought an old Colchester master dated from the mid 60’s, needed a bit of a clean and a 3 phase converter fitted to it, but it is going well.
  3. Floor at new location was uneven.? Fab looking table
  4. @Khriss I don’t get it, why did your mate get that fine figure of a man in to do the cutting for £400 when you would have done it as a favour? Not saying you haven’t got a fine figure Khriss.
  5. Lots of good offers on here, don’t waste your time with the painted wood, help take the shed down and get it disposed of at the local tip. I would not put painted wood in my stove it is not good for the stove, chimney and your health. Well done on being keen to learn, that goes a long way, as we don’t tend to see it thar often. I received an axe recently as a Thankyou, (posted about it on here) I gave the the bloke a coin as per custom to show no ill will, is that just a local / old custom or do other people still so it when they receive a knife or axe as pressie?

    3phase

And as converters go 25kVA is a beast, not that common and if you do find one I bet it will be pricey. Plus that is roughly 100A which is BIG for a single phase supply. This has got a 30 kVA genny required written all over it and they are fairly common.

Good answer @Nopedigree, Think that one has been tampered with.?

  11. Is that some bee hive frames under bench?
  12. @se7enthdevil pic of end grain sanded to 400 grit. Thanks again for your thoughts.
  13. Thankyou for the info, I will get a bit sanded today and post a pic up.
  14. Cheers gents.
  15. Did a deal a while ago and acquired this hard wood sports floor that was getting removed as payment, though I would use it on a house renovation project that is now in its last stages, needless to say the floor didn’t get used so I am going to advertise it and sell it on. Problem is I don’t know what type of wood it is, anyone like to hazard a guess from looking at the pics and the value. I have about 45 square meters of it. The piece I have taken the pics of I have sanded the line markings off it and put a wee of wax on it, and it has come up well. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
  16. Cheers gents, good to know.
  17. Just thinking out loud and sorry for the slight derail, you are making say a resin river table or filling the hollow round with resin for a table, you get it all perfectly flat and polished in your workshop and it looks great. What happens when it has been in someone’s house for 6 months with the central heating on? Does the wood shrink move a bit giving a ridge / step at the resin wood join? Cheers
  18. Yip ?
  19. It is certainly a dangerous diy system especially with the microwave transformer, still dangerous with the neon transformer but it doesn’t kill you quite as badly.
  20. BSA Ultra I have, apart from the gauge diaphragm rupturing and having to replace it, it is a cracking gun. @Lazurus did you use a microwave transformer or a neon sign transformer to get the tracking pattern?
  21. I will speak to him tomorrow ?
  22. He probably would be but you are a little far away, we are in Central Scotland?
  23. Cheers gents
  24. Mate who makes tables was wondering what these slabs were. Thank you in advance
  25. No it means that connecting the 3 phases in delta (instead of star) it will draw 12A. Simply put the star and delta refers to how the 3 coils / windings of the motor are connected to the supply, so in star one end of each winding is connected together, in delta you could say they are daisy chained with the end of one coil getting connected to the start of the other.
