  1. This brings back memories from living up north. The guy on lead guitar, vocals is in New Model Army.
  2. Phone for everything on the move and home, pc at work.
  3. Or check out ‘Game of mobile homes’ on YouTube.
  4. Did the mog thing. Was great for a couple of years but then the maintenance costs start to kick in. (Lots of downtime can really hurt your income) If you don’t have a local mechanic to be able to do the work quickly and efficiently, the costs start to rocket. 3.5t tipper with 6” tow behinds are what 80% of domestic Arb firms use, for a reason. But... they are very limited weight wise. 6.5t crew cab tipper and 750kg 6” chipper is about as versatile and about as good as it gets for domestic arb. Imo. (Personally) You will find what works best for your line of work soon enough. Big outlay on a tracked chipper, if it’s not quite what you need. (Slower to sell as well if you change your mind).
  5. Simplest thing I can think of (without pics) is a tag line tied to the tip and a separate pulley and line tied to the butt of the piece. Gob at 3’oclock (or 9) Guy on the tag line pulls the branch back in on itself , guy on the pulley line plays the line out to follow. (If that makes sense I’ll be amazed!)
  6. Kids (old and young) are so much happier with boundaries. An absence of boundaries does not equal freedom, despite how much we want to kick against them.
  7. One of the best street musicians ever.
  8. We’ve had a couple and user wise they are excellent saws. Very good power to weight. Premixed fuel is probably best to use in it as the auto tune tends to be a finnickity. If you liked the 550 you’ll love the 560. Hope it serves you well.
  9. Guys getting out of the truck at the chip site and leaving the doors wide open......
  10. We have learned to only safe bet in an environment with lots of people coming and going is Motomix/Aspen
  11. 20ft wide conifer hedge reductions, that ‘didn’t look that big when quoted’ that get booked in on a Saturday so you can have an ‘early’ finish. 4 tanks of fuel later and still cutting [emoji30][emoji30][emoji30]
  12. Or turning up on the job (that you weren’t that keen on doing in the first place) and finding the gate has been left unlocked.....,,,,
  13. I wonder if anyone on there has ever had the temerity to solicit recommendations for foot spas?!
  14. Sounds interesting MrJ... do some of the more accomplished and respected ones shoot GoPro footage of their work while sat at their desks? I bet it’s enthralling to watch. I bet some of the threads get heated too.... Quickbooks v excel spreadsheets...... Best calculator??
  15. I actually enjoyed the challenge of a big monkey puzzle. We did have a mog and a big chipper to deal with it then though. Stuff I hate.... Big wide overgrown conifer ‘hedge’row reductionism can become tedious. Brittle ash in the winter (when you’re just not quite sure about your anchor point) Holly. Re-re-reducing rotten pops. Any tree that you ‘wished you had rigged but decided to cut and chuck’ while driving down to the roofing/glazing/fencing suppliers.
  16. I understand what you are saying and I agree, but I struggle to believe that was the motivation behind his incarceration. I would love to be proven wrong on this mind. https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12415/british-media-lies
  17. 70’ multi stem sycamore in a tight spot, no fewer than 7 sheds with fragile roofs underneath, thankfully there was one air raid shelter with a concrete roof which served as a landing pad . Not massive but just about every single piece needed rigging. Really felt my age at the the end of it.
  18. Same here, mines back on. Thanks, Steve.
  19. Yeah me too.... any idea if/when it’s going to get fixed?
  20. Well worth a listen..
  21. The Boy Scouts are in trouble again. http://babylonbee.com/news/bigoted-boy-scouts-welcome-girls-but-still-exclude-all-49247-other-genders/
  22. 1: getting up a little earlier in the morning and having some quiet time with a big cafetière of strong coffee. 2: long weekend away somewhere nice (and not too expensive) once every 3 months. 3: Got given an old pair of Castle speakers and a Marantz amp recently. Every now and then it’s nice to blast a couple of tunes out. Great thread, by the way. [emoji106]
  23. When it comes to ‘free from’ and gluten free stuff, the UK is about 15 years behind the curve. The US has been doing this a lot longer and they have really developed the manufacturing, baking and marketing for this stuff. My American mrs has a gluten allergy plus others as well, she laments the lack of free from stuff over here. She bakes cakes, cookies and other free from stuff for The Rising Cafe at Coventry Cathederal (shameless plug) and it is not just ‘as good’ but better than the normal stuff.
