  1. Just bought one myself... Was thinking of getting a sugihara 18" for it. What mods has it got? Thanks, Timon
  2. Nice one stubby, can't make out what husky that is on the truck... Is it modded??? Thanks
  3. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of fitting sugihara bars to our saws. Are they harder wearing? Better performing? Better value for money? Are the lightweight ones really that much lighter? I know they look really good but there has to be more than that to it. ??? Thanks. Timon
  4. If you look back on this thread and contact Eddie @ Aspen he'll let you know. Timon
  5. Hi Jon .... I think it was red carlube 2 stroke that wrecked our saws... Thanks. Timon
  6. Nice to know people are quoting bs3889 We get lots of similar stuff. One guy asked me to strip all the growth off his conifers and nail some fence panels straight to the stems. Should be ok, shouldn't it ??????!!
  7. I'm still on Iphone 4. With the iOS updates it's as slow as a week in jail.
  8. Sorry to hear that mate, hope you heal quickly.
  9. Gutted for you...... Going to be really careful with mine. Where can I get a glass case?
  10. We run our tree teams with recovering addicts raising finances for charity.. It's never a dull moment and sometimes very challenging. I guess it would make for very interesting TV . But we would NEVER sell out to a TV company. (No offence Zara)
  11. Thanks....
  12. No more crap oil or fuel for us......
  13. We learned a lot from the Stihl guy, When our landscapers brought a strimmer to him he plugged a device into the ignition and bluetoothed to a laptop. Then he told them how many hours it had done, how many successful starts and that the strimmer was running a bit lean. Pre- mix aspen or motomix is definitely the way forward . Timon
  14. Hi Jon, it varies which is why we want to play safe with pre mixed. I think we must have used some of that crap red stuff from Wilkos. The guy from Stihl came to train our lads this week on maintenance and repairs. He was a real gentleman. Very helpful. He recommended that we switch to pre-mix. Timon
  15. After scoring the pistons on 2 saws (Stihl workshop training rep reckons it was down to poor 2 stroke oil) We're switching to pre-mixed fuel. I can get discounted motomix locally But will have to travel to get Aspen. Is there much difference between the two products?
  16. What about if you use it every other day and keep it in a glass case overnight? Will it only half fall apart? :) I take it you have the first type of 540?
  17. Mines lasted well so far.... But I've only started it once... In the garage :)
  18. I just got a 540, I'm hoping mine isn't one of the ones that fall apart. Apparently (according to users on this forum) there are two kinds. And now I find out that Stihl have ironed out the problems on the 201 so that it now performs... And stays in one peice..........
  19. Thanks Eddie. I'm going to order some now. Timon
  20. Nice one mate. Looks like interesting work (apart from the stickiness) Timon
  21. Hi Riggerbear, What climbing techniques are you using to climb them? I take it spikes are out of the question. Thanks mate, Timon
  22. Just take the plunge... Do the CS30/31 straight away, it's done then and you are qualified. (Qualified to start learning that is! ) If you can get some hands on practice with a saw (safely!) first, all the better..... But watch you don't pick up bad habits which you then have to un-learn. From what I can remember the CS 30/31 is designed to be do-able for an absolute beginner. If you've already got experience (without any ingrained bad habits). You'll be fine. Timon
  23. Thanks...
  24. Nice one Mark, thanks. Timon
