  1. Nice set up you have there! Good video. Thanks. Timon
  2. Thanks for this! It certainly looks the very best option. Just bought a new Yale limelight, edelrid rocka (which will probably go back) zigzag, zillon and a treemotion plus 2 new huskys so the coffers are a bit sore at the moment. Had my first real working climb on the new zigzag and really love it. Doing our CS 41 rigging in the new year so things are going well. Diary is full til mid January so work is plentiful. Will probably end up getting the pulley saver in the end. Thanks, Timon
  3. I see what you mean... But.. The Rocka small ring has a roller on it so it's not great sitting a krab on it. Might be better just getting a traditional saver or sucking it up and getting a pulley saver. Thanks. Timon
  4. What it means is that once I have climbed up to my top anchor to install the saver. I'd have to completely dismantle my zigzag and pull the line through the saver then re-thread the zigzag. (Unless I'm missing something ) if I could just push the working end (sewn eye) through the small ring it would be easy. Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this and how they overcame it. Thanks
  5. The plastic sleeve over the sewn Eve is the problem... I don't want to (carefully) remove it 'cos I've already taken the opposite end one off to get through the zigzag. I need to keep the plastic on to retain the "unique id no".. I might just rig something up. Thanks
  6. Thanks for this..... I'm on Yale "limelight" 11.7mm so I wouldn't want to go much thinner. Like the idea of a pulley saver but I've spent so much lately. Wondered if you can "home-make" something similar. I've already got a pinto pulley. Thanks mate, Timon.
  7. Anyone got any advice for the best saver to use with zigzag set up? I bought an edelrid rocka but can't get the sewn eye through the small ring on it. I've always just thrown the rope over the limb and worked that way. Now I'm getting more experienced in climbing I want to start using a saver and reduce the friction in my system. I haven't mastered the throwline yet so I'm still "working" my way up to my main anchor but I would like it to be retrievable. If anyone can tell me how they use the zigzag with a saver I'd be very appreciative...... Thanks Timon
  8. Does the knife throw as well as the weight?

Hi Jon... I have a 560 on an 18" bar and it's excellent. Standard husky bar so a lightweight should be even better.. Thanks. Timon
  11. I often think of our MOG and how it would affect us if something major on it were to pack up. Even though our full time mechanic could cope with any job or rebuild on it, the cost of parts and downtime are a significant factor in how profitable our business is. Thankfully, so far our Mog has been the most reliable vehicle on our fleet! Pound for pound the most productive on the fleet and has really helped us develop our tree business. The flip side of that had we bought one that was beset with breakdowns and problems would be the difference between a healthy, thriving business and one that struggled. Having said that the expensive part of vehicle problems is the downtime not the maintenance. We would suffer the same wether we had bought any dodgy truck be it a 3&half transit, an RB44 or a Mog.
  12. Amen.... As near perfect as it can get Ours was a lot less than £30k
  13. Another really beautiful autumn day in the midlands
  14. Same here. U1250ag. Reg as AG vehicle. We do 6 weekly checks and run it on white. Winch on front pto chipper on rear. Mainly domestic arb but some roadside trees and hedges. Very grey area. We are considering re-registering it as "road" because we don't want to fall foul of VOSA etc... We have an LDV with TW150 as separate/combined team . The mog set up is far more productive. Think threads on this subject will always run and run and run......... I can understand people get narked when they invest in their businesses and play by the rules then have to compete with others who undercut by taking shortcuts. Timon
  15. We have a green mech 220 TMP . It really is a solid machine... Driven by a 125hp mog. Very user friendly... We would have no hesitation in getting another.
  16. Mine too! I'll get all of our lads to sign as well.....
  17. Nice one Reg...... Look fwd to the video.
  18. Did you have to stop and sharpen your chain half way through... What saws did you use?
  19. Looks like you've got the same weather as us, Reg. 7 hours standing on spikes sounds well sore. Never seen the vertical "slices" done before. Thanks, Timon
  20. Sorry..... Couldn't resist that.
  21. A giant panda????
  22. I started at 48, I'm 49 now and love it!... Never let anyone tell you you're too young/old
  23. Hi Jon ... Persisting down now in Brum. The kind of rain that gets you wet, like. Thanks, Timon
  24. That is basically what I meant by the special discs. I'm not trying to teach granny to suck eggs I've done a fair amount of fencing and often wished I had bought one of these when I've had to smash out roots by hand with a pole and chisel thingy. Worth digging a bigger hole to access the root with the disc IMO. The disc I referred to cuts rather than grinds but it is VERY chunky so it cuts a lot of material out at one time and unlike chainsaw chains doesn't go blunt straight away. Thanks, Timon
  25. Czech or Pole or mattock?
