  1. Not the "paperwork" side of it anyway.
  2. Our mog had its tank dipped by customs and excise today.. One of our guys was chipping outside today's job and they pulled up out of nowhere and dipped the tank. As soon as they found it was white diesel they were gone. No more questons.. By the time I got down from the tree they had vanished..,, So glad I took the advice off arbtalkers when we first bought the mog and decided to run on white.. Thanks Timon
  3. And very small payload.. We got some 5t sprinters down rated. The legal payload was 280kg. !!!
  4. Or drag races.
  5. Springs, bearings, kingpins etc....etc... If it's that bad why bother hiding the key ????
  6. :) is there such thing as an excellent three and half tipper?! LDV....... British leyland says it all.. Transit...... Crap clutch. Weak timing chain... Poor capacity Iveco..... ????? We had a spec lift wrecker that was awful... Merc sprinter.... Single wheel back axle.... Any thoughts?????? Timon
  7. Not many LDV s about now worth buying. Most are nackered. Timon
  8. Big Shaun.. He's a tank. He's just passed his CS 30/31
  9. It will be sadly missed (til the next one gets here! )
  10. Our LDV died today, front end gave up the ghost after years of carrying chip and towing chipper..... It can be repaired but we decided to put the money towards a new-er truck... Possibly a transit single cab. If business and our charity rehab work continues to grow like it has we might even look for another Mog... LDV was a faithful truck while it lasted and certainly earned a good whack..... RIP
  11. We've just bought a berlingo. We got it to do quotes and get extra guys/tools to bigger jobs... Haven't driven it yet, but am encouraged by what I've heard about them.
  12. Nice one. Buy it bit by bit
  13. Nice set up you have there! Good video. Thanks. Timon
  14. Thanks for this! It certainly looks the very best option. Just bought a new Yale limelight, edelrid rocka (which will probably go back) zigzag, zillon and a treemotion plus 2 new huskys so the coffers are a bit sore at the moment. Had my first real working climb on the new zigzag and really love it. Doing our CS 41 rigging in the new year so things are going well. Diary is full til mid January so work is plentiful. Will probably end up getting the pulley saver in the end. Thanks, Timon
  15. I see what you mean... But.. The Rocka small ring has a roller on it so it's not great sitting a krab on it. Might be better just getting a traditional saver or sucking it up and getting a pulley saver. Thanks. Timon
  16. What it means is that once I have climbed up to my top anchor to install the saver. I'd have to completely dismantle my zigzag and pull the line through the saver then re-thread the zigzag. (Unless I'm missing something ) if I could just push the working end (sewn eye) through the small ring it would be easy. Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this and how they overcame it. Thanks
  17. The plastic sleeve over the sewn Eve is the problem... I don't want to (carefully) remove it 'cos I've already taken the opposite end one off to get through the zigzag. I need to keep the plastic on to retain the "unique id no".. I might just rig something up. Thanks
  18. Thanks for this..... I'm on Yale "limelight" 11.7mm so I wouldn't want to go much thinner. Like the idea of a pulley saver but I've spent so much lately. Wondered if you can "home-make" something similar. I've already got a pinto pulley. Thanks mate, Timon.
  19. Anyone got any advice for the best saver to use with zigzag set up? I bought an edelrid rocka but can't get the sewn eye through the small ring on it. I've always just thrown the rope over the limb and worked that way. Now I'm getting more experienced in climbing I want to start using a saver and reduce the friction in my system. I haven't mastered the throwline yet so I'm still "working" my way up to my main anchor but I would like it to be retrievable. If anyone can tell me how they use the zigzag with a saver I'd be very appreciative...... Thanks Timon
  20. Does the knife throw as well as the weight?
  21. Brightening up in the midlands..

Hi Jon... I have a 560 on an 18" bar and it's excellent. Standard husky bar so a lightweight should be even better.. Thanks. Timon
  23. I often think of our MOG and how it would affect us if something major on it were to pack up. Even though our full time mechanic could cope with any job or rebuild on it, the cost of parts and downtime are a significant factor in how profitable our business is. Thankfully, so far our Mog has been the most reliable vehicle on our fleet! Pound for pound the most productive on the fleet and has really helped us develop our tree business. The flip side of that had we bought one that was beset with breakdowns and problems would be the difference between a healthy, thriving business and one that struggled. Having said that the expensive part of vehicle problems is the downtime not the maintenance. We would suffer the same wether we had bought any dodgy truck be it a 3&half transit, an RB44 or a Mog.
  24. Amen.... As near perfect as it can get Ours was a lot less than £30k
  25. Another really beautiful autumn day in the midlands
