  1. Or worse still. B&Q pruning saw Fox

    Disgusting!

I wasn't negotiating for our ARB arisings, it was for the waste generated by our Charity furniture shops...

    Disgusting!

Totally agree. Spent ages on the phone with the council yesterday sorting a permit for our charity to tip free (those days are almost gone now) the senior person concerned who was in charge didn't care about what we do to recycle ( they just burn and bury it in the ground) it was just about money.

    Disgusting!

Very few councils run their own tips.. They contract firms like Veolia and Biffa to process their waste. Costs are astronomical. Uk is well behind the times when it comes to recycling. Holland for example doesn't put anything into landfill.

    Disgusting!

We see it in the lanes round our way all the time... Standard rate of landfill tax is currently £80 per tonne and rising It's a problem that is not going to go away soon.

    Smokers.

Gave up 8 years ago.... So glad, I'm a lot fitter , can breath properly and taste my food now. My fingers aren't yellow and I don't stink of stale tobacco any more Result!

  8. I've been climbing a year now and just bought my second rope. My first one still has some life in it but I recon first year of climbing is going to be about as tough on a rope as it gets.... After all, as you gain experience you learn to preserve your kit. Bought an 11.7 mm rope now to use with a zigzag and friction saver so hopefully it'll last longer.
  9. Hi Jon .... Or plug it into a timer so it doesn't get cooked to death. Timon
  10. Hi Jon..... Yes mate in office.... Final preparations for all our December events! 130 events! Operation jingle bells is nearly upon us....... Tree works will continue right thru December but it's all hands on deck up until the 24th Thanks Timon
  11. Nice one Rob! Perhaps the thread will "ripen" when it gets nearer the time Timon
  12. I now realise posting this thread this early was a BAD idea It certainly wasn't intended to wind people up. In the course of my work I have booked 130 fundraising events for our charity (carol singing and bag packing etc...) this December so I know more than most about Christmas overkill........ I still love it though and manage to keep myself from getting too jaded about the whole thing. And when I think about it I'm thankful not spending it somewhere like Syria or worse.
  13. Hi Jon, very crisp up here in the Midlands. Really nice this afternoon working in t-shirt.. Colder tonight though Thanks, Timon
  14. I'll ask one of the lads for you tomorrow and see what he recommends Timon
  15. We have a furniture restoration workshop at our centre. Before we had modern facilities we used to have major problems with lacquers and finishes "blooming"(white misting through the finished surfaces) due to low temperatures and damp conditions. Modern acrylic (water based) finishes are much more forgiving. Oil and spirit finishes are less so. Our experiences have always been: Low temperatures and damp = problems. I have never used Danish oil, personally. Most of the stuff I have used has been pre-catalyst lacquer with 30% standard thinners through a spray gun. I would say your problems are almost certainly down to the drying conditions Timon
  16. Very nice!! Can you PM a price list... Thanks. Timon
  17. Looking to get a big saw. It will be used mainly for domestic work. Already have ms261 , 560xp and ms441. I think 3120 and 880 will be too big. What are the best options out there? Will be buying a used saw, more than likely so any pointers or advice will be appreciated.. Thanks, Timon
  18. Nice one Jon!!!! Looking forward to having the best Christmas ever... Our centre is nearly full now... We got 14 guys only 4 beds left.. Have a great day today mate, big frost in the midlands today. A lot colder... Good for the logs mate. We're conny bashing today. Thanks for the encouragement mate. Timon
  19. Seasons greetings Jon ...,,, Ha ha!!!!
  20. Just finished decorating our tree!! Absolutely love Christmas and what it really means..... Thought I'd be the first to post and wish everyone a very Happy Christmas!!!!!! Timon
  21. We had same thing happen to us. As providence would have it, thankfully, the Stihl trainer was round our place giving our lads some training. He looked at our 261 and diagnosed the scoring on one side of the piston and told us that more than likely it was "old" fuel (old fuel is 30 days old or more, where it starts to deteriorate) or sub-standard oil. He also said it could be the saw running too lean but it was most likely to be a combination of the above... Gutted cos the saw was less than two years old... He then took it away and rebuilt it for us free of charge!!!! Lesson learned..... We only use aspen or Stihl motomix in our saws now. I seem to remember someone on here telling me that Husquvarna use aspen in the factory to set the saws up.... And obviously Stihl will use their equivalent. As long as you are using Stihl two stroke oil in your mix I can't see why they wouldn't honour a warranty when you are using their own oil... I don't know if this helps, I'm just letting you know what happened to us. Thanks Timon
  22. Forgiven. The tea was metaphorical.
  23. I was wondering how I was going to get the tea stain out of the carpet after I spat it out......
  24. What do you use to pull the spikes out of the stem?
  25. Aluminium bashlins.... With leather pads
