  1. Once my 12" techlite bar has worn out I'm going to get a 14" sugihara. I've heard that this is a good option. Can't wait to try it.

    How right you are
  3. Agreed, they really look business like. Sets them apart from other trucks. That "Luton" type chip box looks like it can hold a fair bit of chip. Ours is an "urban" mog. It was either that or a seven 1/2 truck with a tow behind chipper... we'd never get one of them everywhere we need to get to.. The mog does it all!
  4. Ours is a U1250. Would that one fit?
  5. We got both of the above machines and they are both excellent machines for what they are . Our 220 is a pto model driven off a 1250 mog. 125hp doesn't drop a rev. This machine has really helped us drive our business forward now we have a second team. 220 is really well made. Very solid capable machine. Would definitely get another. Timon
  6. Reverse gearbox..... Sounds expensive
  7. N Hi Elliot got any tips for a front mount? Is AC price the best place to get the front links or would we better getting them made ? We have a guy with us who can make just about anything...tilting roof will use a tail lift motor off a Luton.
  8. That's a really useful chip box. We're going to be doing something similar with ours in the new year. Possibly an electric tilting roof. It's still in the design stage. But we're definitely putting the chipper on the front and a bigger box.
  9. Even with the standard bar (It's probably unfair to compare them because the husky is 10cc more, however it doesn't weigh that much more)
  10. We have both... The 560xp is the superior saw.
  11. I have heard Sailing gloves are meant to be pretty good... When I was younger I worked for a window cleaning firm (gloves didn't work in that application) . In the winter months our hands took a real battering always wet and full of detergent. Not nice. There were things we could do to help Iike don't touch metal ladders with your bare hands and always ask the customer for buckets of hot water to wash our gear in thereby helping keep warm. (Don't know how helpful that would be when doing treework) We used to use stuff from the chemist called snowfire. It didn't warm our hands up but it stopped them from splitting from the cold and detergent. You can also get those little hand warmers that release heat when you snap them. My mrs has Raynaud's and her mum bought her some special gloves of the internet. You should be able to get some to match your new climbing helmet
  12. Try J&K waste at Beoley they are part of S.Walker transport. They have just opened a new yard near Hollywood and take chip. You can google S.Walker transport at Branson's Cross Farm, Beoley. Ask for James or Natasha. Sorry I don't have the number to hand. Timon
  13. Speak for yourself mark. We are But we don't work for free either! Some people think that because we are a charity that we will come and do cheap jobs...... We don't. Often people will need to be reminded that WE are the charity... Not them.
  14. Hi Jon mate, Beautiful crisp morning... Clear sky. Timon
  15. As a large organisation, we have a dedicated team working full time systematically covering all the areas we operate in. Not just for our treework teams but for our charity furniture shops and separate landscaping services as well. Like I said, we invest heavily in this area because it is so effective in providing leads for our businesses. We have found that just covering an area once isn't all that effective. What makes it work so well is repeated coverage of areas so that people recognise the name and branding.
  16. Very fetching!
  17. Definitely flyers ... (And word of mouth of course!!)
  18. 6 days a week. 2 teams. And we do 3 days (30ish) quotes each week. Some days are more work and longer than others. We invest heavily in advertising. We all love the work we do and the fact that our profit goes towards helping people who's lives are a mess turn things round. Our customers like the fact they get a good job done and are helping support a charity at the same time.. Timon
  19. It sucks, mate.. We get it from time to time. There's 'firms' out there working for pittance. I've had potential clients show me written quotes from "competitors"...they must be "employing"people who are claiming benefits. Lone climbers. Etc... The figures don't add up, you couldn't run a bona fide business for these amounts so while there are people operating like that to cut costs this will always happen. Timon

    christmas

I love Christmas. It reminds me to be thankful for the good things I have in my life. Having said that I'd be well cheesed off if I bought a tree that had been cut on the 1st of November.
  22. Thanks for your thoughts and tips guys..,.. Looks like hand filing is the way to go.. Little and often. Thanks Timon
