  1. I'll ask one of the lads for you tomorrow and see what he recommends Timon
  2. We have a furniture restoration workshop at our centre. Before we had modern facilities we used to have major problems with lacquers and finishes "blooming"(white misting through the finished surfaces) due to low temperatures and damp conditions. Modern acrylic (water based) finishes are much more forgiving. Oil and spirit finishes are less so. Our experiences have always been: Low temperatures and damp = problems. I have never used Danish oil, personally. Most of the stuff I have used has been pre-catalyst lacquer with 30% standard thinners through a spray gun. I would say your problems are almost certainly down to the drying conditions Timon
  3. Very nice!! Can you PM a price list... Thanks. Timon
  4. Looking to get a big saw. It will be used mainly for domestic work. Already have ms261 , 560xp and ms441. I think 3120 and 880 will be too big. What are the best options out there? Will be buying a used saw, more than likely so any pointers or advice will be appreciated.. Thanks, Timon
  5. Nice one Jon!!!! Looking forward to having the best Christmas ever... Our centre is nearly full now... We got 14 guys only 4 beds left.. Have a great day today mate, big frost in the midlands today. A lot colder... Good for the logs mate. We're conny bashing today. Thanks for the encouragement mate. Timon
  6. Seasons greetings Jon ...,,, Ha ha!!!!
  7. Just finished decorating our tree!! Absolutely love Christmas and what it really means..... Thought I'd be the first to post and wish everyone a very Happy Christmas!!!!!! Timon
  8. We had same thing happen to us. As providence would have it, thankfully, the Stihl trainer was round our place giving our lads some training. He looked at our 261 and diagnosed the scoring on one side of the piston and told us that more than likely it was "old" fuel (old fuel is 30 days old or more, where it starts to deteriorate) or sub-standard oil. He also said it could be the saw running too lean but it was most likely to be a combination of the above... Gutted cos the saw was less than two years old... He then took it away and rebuilt it for us free of charge!!!! Lesson learned..... We only use aspen or Stihl motomix in our saws now. I seem to remember someone on here telling me that Husquvarna use aspen in the factory to set the saws up.... And obviously Stihl will use their equivalent. As long as you are using Stihl two stroke oil in your mix I can't see why they wouldn't honour a warranty when you are using their own oil... I don't know if this helps, I'm just letting you know what happened to us. Thanks Timon
  9. Forgiven. The tea was metaphorical.
  10. I was wondering how I was going to get the tea stain out of the carpet after I spat it out......
  11. What do you use to pull the spikes out of the stem?
  12. Aluminium bashlins.... With leather pads
  13. About £500 ish.... Depending where you go. Ian Morgan ARB is a good place to start. Thanks Timon
  14. I've just passed my LOLER competent person exams. When I asked how can you certify a home splice... I was told you can't because a home splice has no certificate of conformity CE and you can't give it an MBS value. Therefore you can't certify it as PPE fit for use. Also you can't certify it as rigging because you can't calculate an SWL. Does anyone have any accurate info on this ? Thanks Timon
  15. Nice one Paul, Please forgive the quip about the OCD I'm checking my kit later today, I'll post some pics. Have a good day mate..... Timon

  18. Like the way you store/display your kit, Paul . Are you OCD?? :) If so can I get some lessons? Thanks Timon
  19. Nice one Ste, hope she lasts. Timon
  20. Just replaced our LDV with this! Hope it serves us well. It has 5 ton springs on the back and full ally box. 2001 model but low mileage .
  21. Hi Mark, I don't tend to use mine much cos it won't self tend until about 25ft and I feel a bit of a div asking the groundie to hold the line tight while I ascend and the line unclips every second thrust On a positive note.... Not using it has helped me lose a stone in weight !!
  22. Haven't had mine long enough to give a "seasoned" review. What I will say is that it is still in one piece and it is much quicker than the 201 we have... I do hear that the new 201 has has been greatly improved though.
  23. I bought a pantin recently but I can't find any where to clip a small biner in. Is it only the old type you can do this on? I'm 13.5. Was 14.5. Three months ago. Thanks Timon
  24. I did my climbing tickets earlier this year. I'm 49. 50 next year and I climb three or four times a week. I (reasonably) expect to be climbing for the next 10 years. Being quite new to climbing I am learning and improving with each climb. As you progress you learn how to be efficient and conserve energy. Hope this helps to encourage you. I've had some really good encouragement From people on here! Never let anyone tell you you are too old!! Timon
