  1. Thanks for this....., we'll probably re-register it as a road vehicle once we have looked into it in more detail. Just to mention. We own a farm, (and rent a couple as well) We don't just do tree surgery We're not looking to take "short cuts" with our business just to save a few quid. Thanks Timon

    Lanyard

    Only for other people
  3. Sure The trailer would be towed behind another vehicle for recovery purposes. Thanks for the tip......
  4. It is That's good to know thanks.
  5. That's right, B+E . Those of us who have "grandad" licences. The younger drivers will have to sit a test I think......
  6. On the front I think mate, then it could double as a car recovery trailer as well when needed ( we have a fleet of different vehicles )
  7. Thanks guys, all this info is really helpful. We run 2 trucks: LDV & tw150 and the mog. With a trailer we'll be able to turn our bigger jobs round much quicker.

    Lanyard

Anyone tried the sidewinder? How much "tail" will coil up. I took 2 strops up into a massive oak this week.. (Dead wooding) biggest I've done so far. Really tested my ability to climb and work efficiently in a very large canopy. Although having the extra strop (teufelberger CE lanyard) helped, it also hindered me as well. Spent a lot of time untangling myself. Next one (tomorrow ) I'm going to try and reduce the "clutter" in my system by using redirects rather than an extra strop.
  9. Thanks for this... Perhaps an old 7&half chassis might do the trick as well... As we only really do domestic arb it doesn't need to be that big. We're going to mount the pto chipper on the front so we can tow. It'll save us doing more trips to the tip and speed the jobs up.
  10. Thanks Bob..
  11. Nice one thanks...
  12. Thanks Treequip, Our new mechanic used to work for VOSA so he's well up on this kind of thing. What would be our max train weight? It's a 1250ag registered as agricultural.... Thanks
  13. Ps. I use an "eyetie" hitch on my hitchclimber on the mainline. Responsive AND grippy. Best of both worlds
  14. I use this VT on my 5m side strop... 2 wraps and 3 braids depending on how you count them. Very responsive and grips well when using it on my bridge as a second climbing line. The hitch cord is 8mm op and is nicely worn in. Quite new to climbing so I'm still experimenting... There are loads on here with bags of experience and knowledge... Why not create a new thread and ask the question? Hope this helps! Timon
  15. We're going to build a hiab trailer to tow behind our mog. Our mechanic is going to build it from scratch or adapt an existing trailer. Can anyone give me some advice based on similar experience? We're using it for domestic mainly. Our mechanic is very capable, so the building of it won't be a problem. I just wanted to hear of others experiences, good and bad. Thanks, Timon
  16. Just as I thought.... 3 way!! Nice looking splice tho.... In better nick than the sewn eye on my main line
  17. Going out to the shed now to check if it IS a screwgate. Someone's swapped it for mine if it is.....
  18. Nice one !! looking forward to learning how to myself.
  19. Home splicing?
  20. The last pic is of the VT on my strop.
  21. By a twist (my version) I mean; Tie a VT but simply twist the rope from the ends or the eyes before attaching to the krab. This creates more stiffness and changes the characteristics of the hitch. I think this is what Steve meant but not sure. I've also included a pics of the eyetie hitch which is an excellent alternative to the VT. Hope this is helpful
  22. Tradeoff is right..... Love the sport-ness of the VT but also like the grippy-ness of the eyetie hitch. Only ever used op, I like its durability. Got a zigzag coming in a couple of days
  23. I found the same problem, but like Steve said I put a twist through the braids and it worked a lot better. I am on 8mm op and 13mm Marlow gecko. 3 wraps and 3 braids. For some reason I never had the problem using the VT on my side strop with same set up.
  24. With its own unique id number, of course. Thanks for your previous advice on this topic as it was helpful when I did my LOLER competent person course recently. Still awaiting the results to my written exam.
  25. Sorry treequip. Meant to quote Chris' post.
