  1. There's a title to get a bit of interest lol. But does anyone ever leave their turned items naked. I turned a tea light holder for the wife last weekend (well it didn't start out for her but there we go) but she got the hump when I oiled it. She seen it freshly finished and liked the colour as it was. It was brown oak but after sanding I thought it looked a bit dull and grey and the tung oil has brought out the colour in my opinion. How many of you ever leave your turnings without any kind of finish. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The album is working for me. Good luck finding someone to put your tools to use bud Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Your not wrong. The repitition looks excellent. I'm yet to make two items the same haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks for the feedback Did you get the full system with the various jigs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. A pro edge just ended today on eBay. It was the full kit so brand new £330. With the £25 postage the guy had added it sold for £305! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. They are good looking knives Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Bordon, Hampshire Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Are you looking for someone who can stabilise scales that you already have. My bro in law uses a guy in our village to do scales for catapults. He uses a decompression chamber to impregnate them with resin Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I like the look of the pro edge but with the extra attachments and what not it's the other side of £300 notes. Do you still need a grinder if you want to reshape a chisel or can you just whip a course belt on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I haven't done any welding. Although it's a possibility if I called in a favour haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Nice collaboration there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Or like me get the best of both worlds. Save it from the woodpile, get it on the lathe, then return it to the woodpile because you took a huge chunk out of it with a skew chisel haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Well you can't argue with the results. Do you think the extra width helps. That grinder is a few quid more. Good idea mounting it to a separate piece of wood by the way. Especially for a shed like mine where space is at a premium it'll be handy to be able to move it around Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. They look excellent Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I've been looking at the Axminster trade series grinder. It's speed is 1425 rpm. It takes a 32mm wide wheel and has a 1 1/4" spindle so it's easier to get new wheels without using spacers. The cheap one I have has a 1/2" spindle and the wheel runs miles off true with them plastics spacers in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I kept skipping this post thinking it was about a log deck haha. That's stunning timber. Looks too good for the garden I'd happily have that in my house Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. This was one of the options I've been looking at Steve. And upgrading the terrible grinder I bought off eBay haha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. It'd be good to hear how you get on with that when it arrives Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I'll have a Google now. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I've decided to splash out a bit and get something to take the guess work out of sharpening. I can't justify mega bucks for a tormek or that end of the scale. But thinking somewhere in the £200-250 region. I just think I need to be making life easier for myself while I'm still learning. I'm looking for something that can cope with gouges as well as skews. Thanks for any help, Mick Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I drive past a post pallet in fareham with a Free Wood sign on it. It just gets filled with what looks like cut up lumps of pallets. Still gets emptied though Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Great videos there Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I'm gonna have to make an effort to get to you again some time Steve. I haven't even been on the lathe for 3 weeks until this morning. I logged a load of beech as well early spring. I didn't worry about holding any back as I thought I'd get more from work, but I've moved jobs now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. There should be 5 pictures in the post mate. Can you not see anything Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I picked up the Axminster hollow centre yesterday Steve. Hopefully have some spare cash next month to get an auger to go with it. I could have spent an absolute fortune walking round the Axminster outlet in Basingstoke yesterday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
