  1. Thank you [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Great shots Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. My home county council are going to lift a TPO to fell a 100 year old Cypress because it blocks the view of some new townhouses! I hope it's ok to share this but there's a petition to save the tree if anyone would care to sign it. Thank you http://www.thepetitionsite.com/en-gb/696/456/233/stop-durham-county-council-felling-a-100-year-old-cypress-tree/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I'm trying to get a half decent bowl worth of fruits turned at my aunts request. These two are firsts but I've got some different timbers to add a bit variety. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. First attempt at a pear today. Just ran out of time to get the stalk done before my kids swimming lessons! I think it's a bit on the big side but pretty happy with the shape. And I've got a jam chuck now that takes the apple and pear. Hopefully finish it off on Sunday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I can see them being good sellers. Or even garden centres being up for bulk order Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They're both excellent bob. The tree looks like it would take a long time sanding and finishing so many individual flanges. What woods have you used Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Nice work. I really want to try the acorns after seeing yours. I've got some small bits of oak that should be ideal for those Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I think for two days work that's about right plus cost of materials on top. Depends what you're happy to work for but in my area £100 a day is cheap for skilled man. Just depends if the customer is prepared to pay in excess of £300 for a gate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. My house had no chimney. We had an external flue fitted in 2010 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It might be a British thing. But maybe because British housing developers insist on squeezing as many homes as possible into any area. I'm pretty lucky and have space for log stores but my house is 20 years old. Homes built 10 years ago can't park 2 cars on the drive. Visiting any of these estates after 6pm is a pain in the arse. Not much chance of these households surrendering 3m2 of driveway. And they've probably got a garden the size of a ping pong table! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Is this a precaution against carbon monoxide? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Well done Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Just noticed there's a timber fair on this weekend. Various arb based displays and demonstrations and some craft stalls as well. Don't know if anyone here are taking turnings https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/whats-on-at-rhs-gardens/whats-on-at-rhs-garden-wisley/Autumn-woodfest Me and the family will probably be there Sunday we're only half an hour away Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Completely different industry but my wife has a Facebook based craft business. If you put a price in a post the program recognises it as an advert and very few people will see it unless you pay to boost the post. Definitely the best thing to do for log sales would be the local selling pages with lots of members and share your post into all of those groups as someone has already said Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. They're brilliant Lazarus. How does the jam chuck work. Do you need the tailstock in for that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Do you mean you have a screw in from the piece on the right, into the the bottom of your apple Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Good stuff mate I'll be having a go at a pear soon Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Missed a pic. This is the bottom Got to show the faults as well don't ya haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I've had my first attempt at an apple. I don't know how others do it but I started between centres to get the main shaking done then put a foot on a couple of inches back from what would be the bottom of the apple and put it in a chuck to finish of with the top of the apple at the free end. I kept trying to shape the bottom as best I could until it parted and then sanded and oiled by hand. This is how the bottom turned out. I used a drill bit to scrape out the nub that was left Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Very nice Lazarus Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Axminster sell them for £7 a pod now. I don't know how that compares to what they used to be that's the only place I've seen them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I fancy trying a banskia pod. I think they look great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I've been asked by an aunt for apples. You've done a great job of that one Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
