  1. The lathe is record power CL3. The pre 2016 style. The problem I'm having is the locking mechanism on the banjo springs back when it's pushed right in. Maybe it's more to do with the banjo rather than the rest. But if I loosen it so it's more positive in this position I think it might be too loose in normal position where it outside of the bed bars This is the angle of the tool rest Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. When I'm spindle turning if it's anything less than around 2" in diameter it's difficult to get the banjo close to the work. Would an angled tool post work or would that cause different problems. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I seen this platter when you turned it lazurus. It's actually something I've looked at for inspiration. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Excellent work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks twig. I wasn't very keen on the first one myself I can't think of any real use for it it's less than 5" diameter. I'm not in the industry I only ended up in this forum as it came up in Google every time I needed chainsaw advice lol. And I hung around to keep an eye on the firewood forum for any local stuff getting shifted free or cheap. I normally turn stuff I've picked up as firewood but got offered this worktop stuff and thought I'd try it. I've still got approx 4' length of it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Been given some kitchen worktop offcuts. Turned the small one as a trial run then glued to bigger pieces together to make the bigger bowl Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Here you go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Yes better if you have any older tools that aren't hss. Also if I remember right the slow running one came with a 40 or 50mm white wheel as standard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'll look for the video on YouTube sandspider Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Link to video showing how they got planks from large diameter trees using hand tools only. The link should work even if you don't use Facebook https://www.facebook.com/The.Amazing.Woodworking/videos/1260735937345833/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I know. I wish I'd seen the slow running one get reduced Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Just been on the Axminster site and it looks like they're clearing the creusen line. The slow running version is no longer available and the standard one has been reduced to £90 in 240v or £110 is think in 110v. Big saving if they're any use to anybody. They've got standard 20mm wheels on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Nightmare pal. Maybe a wallpaper steamer could kill if anything that's in there but it could mess up your kitchen top at the same time. I think boric acid is used but it's left on and kills anything emerging I believe so no good in your situation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Very nice. I love the figuring in the bottom one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Looks great twig. It must take a lot of patience trying to work with random timber like that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Any suggestions on a suitable finish. I normally use danish Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks stubby. Now I just need some mead haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Ah thanks steve I'd never have known. The more I look at it the more I wish I'd made the bead a smaller diameter like on the glass. But once I had a reasonably even shape I bottled going any further. I'd probably have cocked it up and not had enough left to correct at that point haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I was given some joinery offcuts by someone who wanted to know if they would turn ok. I decided to try a goblet as I thought the dimensions of the starting blank suited it. I'm happy with the result although the bottom is still rough. I haven't oiled it yet Image it was loosely based on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. The bears are cool. The elm looks beautiful Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Good luck gobbypunk. Certainly seems like if you can produce the timber in larger pieces you'll have something pretty unique to offer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Any of it to be honest haha. But the stuff on the sports pitches was what I was posting about Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Is anyone here involved with all the felling that's going on just now in Bordon, Hampshire. Trying to find out if it'd be possible to buy a few ton. Probably 4-5. Ideally delivered but could arrange collection. Thanks, Mick Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. That is incredible craftsmanship Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I very nearly bit at this one myself this morning. Been waiting all day for replies. Well played Tony Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
