I had four 8"x16" black modular silverline wheels on my GMC Sierra k1500 with 255/85x16 BF Goodrich MT tyres. The overall tyre height was 34" so plenty of ground clearance and great grip off road.

Have a look at the Silverline wheels and tires website. Looks like it is USA based but a mind boggling selection of 4x4 and truck wheels and off road tyres.

Just get a stihl BR 600 magnum. Absolutely brilliant and sooner or later you will find a use for the extra power

Just to change the subject a little: I just got a Makita battery hedge trimmer. 18v so I can use my drill batteries and charger. £99 via Amazon. Very light and seems power full enough to trim small to medium hedges. Included in the packaging was a promotion flyer from Dewalt for their new XR flex volt system. 54v 6.0AH batteries and charger. The batteries are also "backwards compatible" meaning they can run 18v tools as well. This seems like a big step forward in battery tools although I think dewalt only do construction tools,not gardening. They are claiming mains power performance without the wires. Hopefully makita and others will follow. I know stihl,husky and others do 36v backpack batteries but I think this is very progressive thinking by dewalt. Battery power is the way forward!

Speaking as someone who has enjoyed good health (and taken it for granted) all my life and just been hit with a potentially life changing problem all I can say is thank goodness for the NHS,and its doctors and nursing staff. I have just had three short spells in hospital and the level of care I received was exemplary. The NHS staff at junior level seem to be under tremendous pressure and we need to look after them and encourage them to stay in the profession. As I say, I never gave it a thought when I was well, but now with old age creeping up I cannot imagine the consequences of further deterioration in health care provision.

I know I have said this before,so at the risk of boring everyone, the stihl HSA 86 battery hedge trimmer is the best and most convenient small power tool I have ever used.

Yes, I once spent some time sorting bricks after they came out of the kiln. Piece work rates, hot bricks and back bent all day. That was hard going.

anyone looking for american pick up trucks could try Clive Sutton on 020 7483 6500. he is advertising Dodge Ram 1500 available in RHD. Dodge are currently producing a full size pick up available with a 3 litre diesel. i believe Ford may have the F150 available with a 3.6 litre twin turbo but i dont know if it is available in RHD.

I have been using the stihl HSA 85 hedge cutter and the MSA 200 chain saw for more than a year and i think they are fantastic tools. we have the fast charger and two batteries and can cut more or less non stop.Especially with the hedge cutter which is probably the most convenient power tool I have used. just got the BGA 85 blower.it is clean and quiet but quite big and bulky.Biggest problem is maximum blowing time of 10 minutes on a full battery.

how does Castrol R oil compare to any of the other 2-stroke oils? can you still get it? i remember it from trips to the T.T. years ago and the smell was fantastic.

we have the stihl msa200 battery saw where i work. had it for two years now and whilst it is an excellent tool there are problems using it in the rain. the stihl battery is a "top fit"(see the catalogue illustration" and there is no cover for the battery compartment. water can and does go in to the battery compartment and the electrical contacts are in the bottom. i now use duct tape to seal the compartment once the battery is in and it works fine.

i was strimming a horse paddock to cut docks and nettles. in the middle of a patch of docks was this nest. the nest and eggs look like a blackbirds. i did see a blackbird in a hazel tree close by but i have never before seen or heard of a blackbird nesting on the ground.

no, on the contrary,it makes you a good person. you took the opportunity that was presented to you and sounds as though you did ok. someone must have assessed your capabilities for the task and gave you the chance to prove them. i worked for years in the oil industry and,particularly in the "old days"and for the american companies,you were always given opportunities to prove your aptitude for the next job up the ladder. if you did "ok" that job was yours whenever an opening came. certificates are fine but all they prove is that someone has been assessed as competent at that particular time,not their ongoing ability to continue to perform well and learn and improve.

been using the stihl battery hedgecutter for a year and in my opinion it is a very impressive piece of equipment. been cutting wet grass today with a new viking 6 mower,good cutting but poor grass pickup.

Ford light truck diesel engines,including the 7.3,6.0,6.4 litre,used to be manufactured by Navistar(formerly International Harvester). There were some problems with the 6.0 litre engine and the 6.4 was discontinued. Since 2010/2011 ford has manufactured its own 6.7 litre turbodiesel for light truck use. All these engines are V-8. Dodge light trucks(now simply called Ram trucks)run Cummins turbodiesels,formerly 5.9 litre,now 6.7 litre. these are I-6.

i have done my MEWP training and try to stay safe but if it was a choice between being safe and the lovely Monica,safety would not be my immediate priority.

i believe the reason some cyclists dont use dedicated cycle lanes is because of the stop/start/give way nature of cycle lanes. -
right! but them trident subs are so sexy looking! seriously though,how would any money saved by not renewing the nuclear "deterrent"be used? unless it is "hypothecated",i think it will disappear into the government finance black hole.

that's the way the locals seem to like it. you might be able to get powdered milk,no sugar but they dont seem to keep liquid milk.

i dont usually take sugar in coffee but i like the coffee they make in the hawker centres in singapore and malaysia.if you want milk then you get sweet condensed milk.

i think more consideration should be given to buying and running american pickup trucks.when all expenses are factored in they can be very competitive ,enjoying good resale prices. they are usually very enjoyable to drive as well as long as you dont mind left hand drive.
