  6. Anyone bodged up wheels on a mower? Have an old mculloch that was junked as all wheels worn so bad they wooble and bind so it won't push anymore. Plastic has worn on the wheels against the axles (doesn't have bearings). Axles may of worn also, as used a digitial caliper and think axle standard is 1/2" but now they seem near 12mm? Shit wheel seems standard now for mowers as bearings or proper bushs than costr £2 each must be deeemd to expensive? Rest of mower in good condition new wheels cost £20 each axles £20 so thats £160 parts for a mower that was £260 new. So junk a mower coz wheel wooble... Thought might fit theese: Oil Filled Bronze Flange Bushes: Oilite Oil Filled Bronze Flanged Bushes SIMPLYBEARINGS.CO.UK But plastic wheels have no meat to drill our to 15mm
  7. Think it looks like english elm have an english elm hedge in the garden Can you buy theese resistant cultivars as whips fancy some but couldn't find any available only wych elm? Equipped with removable stainless steel... Probablt over £100 with import costs from EU? Any kettle that lasts more than about 6 months would be a bonus and without crappy plastic. Getting fed up with the cheapo ones not lasting....

  13. Yew can grow fast especially when young and untrimmed leader can do probalby near a ft a year. Dunno were the "yew is very slow growing" myth comes from, think its coz as a mature trimmed hedge its annual grow is often abit less than others but thats not a bad thing....
  14. They seem to extend a dense shallow mat of fiberous roots more than many other hedges like beech etc Box does also. Think that whats takes all the moisture and nutrients Some kind of root barrier may help....

Don't think there is that much else "modern" around Isn't the echo 50cc model abit dated now with rubber av? & makita/dolmar are good atm but they are stopping all petrol saws next yr so might be worth getting one while you still can? Efco doesn't have any decent new saws for ages? Will be of bad for consumer to have only 2 companies left to dominate even more imo...
  19. Noticed recently theres an increase in something killing privet off/ making them look half dead. Probably honey fungus or droughts etc dunno.....

  21. Depends on the variety weather etc, 10 -12 weeks for first/second earlies but as above just try digging some up when the have began flowering. Being lifting/ eating charlotte spuds for the last 2 weeks in N Wales... Lighter soil warms up faster = earlier crops.The local farmer who does spuds every year, is on limestone. & was selling spuds roadside a few weeks before mine were ready. (Soil here is heavy clay)
