  1. Sounds like its heading in the same direction as the hand maidens tale/ gilead.
  2. Why not just upload the thing to youtube, or is the idea behind the webinar just a way too harvest user data for marketing the paided services?
  3. The guy with the old tractor mentioned a new flail for doing the encroaching hedgelines. He already has an old topper that isn't much good I assume its blades are blunt. Thinking he would need an offset/side shift flail not very wide ( 100cm) as easier for the low HP and with the hammers for brambles etc? Really he should probably just get a contractor in as has at least 60 acres.... in some place blackthorn and gorse has encroached over 25m on other hedges theres just 1m to 5m of bramble.
  4. Any ones that will do brambles / smaller blackthorn on a fergy 35?
  5. Nice. Any trouble sourcing spares or haven't needed any parts in 15yrs?
  6. Imformative posts thanks. Is the reasoning behind the the no shoot night regs suppose to prevent illegal shooting, or an animal welfare issue?
  7. I think it will be hard to get rid without weed killer. (though that may also harm the hedge) it maybe easier to just contain its spread with a root barrier. Though mulching with many layers of cardboard or using a weed membrane over the whole area may work. It would take a few yrs and you would need to cover the area the 100%, and keep checking you didin't miss abit. Hard to do around the all the hedge trunks but might be feasible if area isn't to large. The trouble imo with bark and grass mowings it will supress it initially but it will grow though it and feed the ground elder by improving soil as it breaks down. With ground elder its best to have zero tolerance approach or not bother. Otherwise you waste time weeding it etc, then its back to square one in a few yrs unless you removed every single tiny bit of it.

  9. I expect a 0.58 gauge bar rail is abit more durable v 0.50 & might also carry oil better for a longer bar?
  10. The largest conventional brushcutter is an italian made one called "brutale" 3.3kw Brushcutter Straight Shaft 6.5 BT Brutale | Active s.r.l. WWW.ACTIVE-SRL.COM
  11. Stood up on that shed roof with the polesaw yet?
  12. Maybe hes planning to free climb up using the pegs as a ladder then lop the top off. Saw some one do that once on a similar 40ft tree with a bowsaw 😬
  13. Keep meaning to try that buisness often mentioned of soaking the cord as want to try and use less, mainly to help the enviro creating less plastics bits left lying about... Thinking the best way maybe to carry around a little flask of water with a with a lid on and keep the precut lengths in there to fish one out when needed...
  14. Old fashioned heavy weight denim is good v thorns. Looks abit 1980's/ early 90's though esp if double denim stone wash... 😏
  15. Terrible hedge plant imo due to not sprouting from old wood. This means many hedges get bigger and wider each year as its very hard to maintain the same size without it going bare/brown. Least with laurel you can coppice to ground a it will come back fresh looking..... Dunno why people don't choose yew instead, maybe they are scared off poisoning the dog or something with the trimmings....
  16. Only reason to bother to climb it is if there isn't space to fell it from the ground.
  17. This 18v makita topper is good But be aware of the H&S issues as others have said. You could get a samurai hand saw (be careful with a hand saw also ) a budget petrol chainsaw to use on ground and make sure you do get PPE: chainsaw trousers and helmet. Dealing with all the tree after you have cut in down may be the biggest hassle as the volume is always 5 times more than you think when the trees still up.
  18. I use the aldi workwear ones they r ok. You can get some trousers marketed for strimming and hedge trimming now . e.g Husqvarna Technical Brushcutting and Trimmer Trousers | Husqvarna UK WWW.HUSQVARNA.COM The trousers are specifically designed for working long hours with a brushcutter or trimmer. 19. Some data on swallow pops seem more variable than I thought it was as had read before thay had being in decline since 1970's Species | BTO - British Trust for Ornithology APP.BTO.ORG Steep decline in last 10yrs though
  20. Very even so far.,,,,
