  1. Lodge pole pines can grow fairly rapidly alot faster than beech i reckon.
  2. I like my Makita DUR369AZ so far apart fron the batteries only lasting less than 20mins even on slow speed. The Makita DUR368AZ is a different smaller motor not sure about the design choice of having the motor right by the head though?
  3. Most scientists are normally more rational and objective? You have a hypothesis about ivy but have jumped to a conclusion without citing much evidence apart from casual observations. Any links to interesting scientific papers on ivy which I posted you haven't engaged with, maybe you didn't bother to read them? I already posted this one: https://purews.inbo.be/ws/portalfiles/portal/34412808/Perring_et_al._2020_Increasing_liana_frequency_Preprint.pdf
  4. In ground root barriers as available, someone on here might have an idea of a particualar brand that they can recommend Hornbeam also keeps its leaves in winter. Considered Yew as is a nice fast growing evergreen? Quercus ilex or Bay laurel?
  5. I used willow along side a polytunnel as grows fast and is free from cuttings. I like a nice beech or hornbeam hedge though. Container idea is a bad one imo unless you get massive containers and set up a drip hose for watering. Seems alot of added unnessary faff & expense.
  6. Sheep and cattle really like eating ivy. Tree Hay Tree Hay: A forgotten fodder WWW.AGRICOLOGY.CO.UK A short histor
  7. Almond as firewood? Uk has many almond trees? No mention of sycamore or softwood Skita spruce which are both common? Think it could be better......from the sample page sorry. What thoose firewoods merchants say isn't that informative imo....its just partly sales patter......that needs to be seperate from actual wood info or atleast looked abit more critically or in more detail, the pros cons of each claim etc.... The moisture bit is ok could mention that a moisture meter is cheap to buy...
  8. How about ivy covering wooden fences I reckon it makes them rot quicker....
  9. Can't see no fresh rot that hole looks old / healed up I see nothing around that can be damaged by that apple tree. The tree looks the only thing decent in the whole garden tbh... Id leave tree alone unless you want to prune it to increase fruit yield and that is best done sympathetically over a period of several yrs not massacred, in a oner..... Unless you do hate trees that is.....
  10. Probably makes no difference but won't they be buired abit deep before they reach daylight unless planted shallow? I dig a trench chuck spuds in backfill the trench with manure from the compost heap then the soil from dug trench back on top, then a few weeks after they pop up, go I along the rows with a chillington hoe several times earthing up. Proabably OTT but like the look of having large ridges a furrows....
  11. I see you have earthed your spuds up before they even sprouted up? Keen 🙂
  12. Better get the new 70cc echo? 28" bar in a 60cc saw?
  13. 9010 odd choice of saw for a B&Q type? Must of got it at a car boot?
  14. Is the satilite imagery higher resolution on google pro? Alot of google maps its pretty fuzzy........
  15. Not probably not but neither will petrol? Cuts about 12mm in reality but will do more depend on species 23.5mm is whats qouted in info which is same or better than most petrol ones i think... (max cut is mentioned but in reality it means the tooth spacing ) Does tackle a whole yrs growth on blackthorn hawthorn etc fine....
  16. My 18v makita battery trimmer does farm hawthorn easy which im surprised by... Makita DUH601Z It has a 23.5m diameter max cut Also have the 18v topper for branches
  17. Have you seen this big libary of old os maps and you can print if you like (take a screen grab) National Library of Scotland - Map Images MAPS.NLS.UK
  18. Side line to what? CBN wheels will be alot better also.
  19. I wonder can the stihl attachments go an another brands engine/multitool? Spline pattern shaft diameter etc.... There is a the stihl battery multitool powerhead dunno what its like.......
  20. No not an issue to worry about unless something like a bullfinch ate them etc
  21. Apple tree should be outside why are they in the house? I wouldn't prune at all yet just do what this guy says chop the sides of to 5cm -10cm
  22. Good article by Peston about non doms with some history background etc: Are non-doms bad for UK? WWW.BBC.CO.UK Would Britain be richer or poorer if Ed Miliband abolishes the tax privileges of long-term non-doms?
  23. Private eye metions the non dom status a yr ago but its never was big news then maybe it was only a rumour not confirmed? Corbyn said he would of abolished non dom it but current "new" Labour are typically keeping quiet about what there policy would be on it In reality i reckon they would do nothing different to reform it and other such tax loophole issues .
