I read that some sponge filters need oil on them to work better.

No idea about mains ones do they make any ones that aren't "fisher price"? Scythe with a ditch blade i found very easy to use and effective but the sharpening/ peening required is difficult though & abit of a skill to master.

Battery run time is very low on the makita I have only 10 -15 mins for x2 5amp. The power is 1kw motor same as a 35cc petrol. Will do brambles easy/very well with a oregon mulch blade but need 6 bats and double charger etc if alot of brambles. Supposedly it can get too hot in summer to lie on. I did say its ok for footy pitches. Also I like moss and stuff in lawns, never got the lawn must look like a bowling green obession. -
Yeah real shame makita is stopping hope spare parts don't vanish too fast. Kind of hoping some other company might take over making petrol models when makita stops?

A agree that it should be banned apart for use on all weather sports pitches etc. Local garden centre now seems it is about 50% plastic garden crap/nik naks solar laterns etc, 20% weedkillers/ chemicals,and about 30% negelected plants. Most of the the garden tools are poor quality disposable stuff that won't last 5 mins (apart from the odd exception like the promotional felco scecateurs stand etc) I think alot people just don't like nature as its has a tendency to be "untidy". One tiny brown spot on an otherwise prefectly healthly plant and they are having a panic attack, and wanting to buy chemicals /products marketed at them to to fix it. hence the huge array of questionable garden products. Can see why plastic grass and matching plastic plants offers them a perfect solution. Horrible reflection on societal values. -

Really is getting more & more common now. It seems its standard for new second homes. Technically it can be recycled.... but im in no-doubt most will end up dumped in laybys or set or fire in a 3rd world slums, or landfilled after it all is ripped up after its 5 -10yrs..... lifespan -

Found this ,and it seem more realistic in that tallies with the percentages on fuel consumption increases you calculate: https://www.concawe.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/rpt_13-13-2014-00668-01-e.pdf I saw another reference/link that seemed to suggest a fairly large % variation in e10 Fuel mpg betewen different engine/car models for real world driving - can't find it now. Some cars were near the same mpg others less, ws dependent on how the engines ECM systems responded to E10 etc i think they concluded.... -
For stuff that is a loads of cuts 2inch diameter or less etc... it works ok. With 4 5ah batteries it lasts awhile.
