  1. Not much movement on the front lines recently supposedly gonna be a new russian offensives planned to mark the the 1yr since the start.
  2. msa300 is abit of a novelty i reckon Alot heavier than the ms261 and you will get through batteries fast if you cut much of the bigger stuff that the saw is designed for so you will need a few. So a big investment for something that in many ways in less all round useful than the ms261. I'd say better getting the ms261 & if you want a stihl battery one get the msa220 in addition .
  3. If you don't already have some decent suitable tools and do decide to keep them pruned yourself , I recommend you consider getting some decent quality secateurs a pruning saw and some bypass loppers then you will have all the tools you need to maintain them. Theese are good quality brands Okatsune secateurs silky or samurai saws bacho loppers Trees look low enough now that no ladders needed..
  4. Processing timber as in repeated crosscutting decent diameter logs etc is probably what battery saws are least suited for.
  5. Ms241 550xp CS-4310SX There are smaller pro saws from echo and stihl (like the the toppers but with rear handles) but id say not suited to firewood imo unless its alot of small diameter coppice. EDIT forgot about the husky 545 but seems abit pointless imo as same price virtually as a 550xp
  6. I found one on ebay as I fancied one a while back. I never bought it in the end as spray paint does the same job...... Its not stihl but looks near the same.... George Barnsley, Sheffield, Rubber Tapping Tool, Timber Scribe,Old Stock, Unused WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Could also be used as a timber scribe.
  7. For my push bike chain I have a little gauge.
  8. So cost in Wales is near double compared to the rest of the country?
  9. What is core firewood?
  10. Apparently a screen is cheaper to make than the all the buttons etc or something. I think i read an article on it thats its down to cost cutting? Anyways buttons are better: Buttons beat touchscreens in cars, and now there’s data to prove it ARSTECHNICA.COM Swedish publication Vi Bilägare quantified the problem with new tests.
  11. Its lighter & maybe has better quality bits & bobs than the other homeowner saws dunno if that justifies the extra price & shame about the vibration being more. Piston skirt seems to know all there is to know about echos and seemed to rate it. Echo CS 3510 | Arborist, Chainsaw & Tree Work Forum WWW.ARBORISTSITE.COM Anyone using this new model Echo 3510 ? What are your opinions ? I'm thinking of getting one but not many reviews...
  12. A quick google brought up the argos manual https://www.argos-support.co.uk/instruction-manual/3054716-sovereign-1800w-chainsaw.pdf From the manual: That oregon chain shold be fine. I think it might be some issue with either the chain tensioner or oiler not working maybe as what else is there? Also a blunt chain that overheats perhaps..... 91PJ051X
  13. I don't understand why they are selling it it so cheap?
  14. Echo CS-3510ES/CS-3510AC? Very good power to weight. Unsure about the merits of ES starter systems or AC versions but might be a bonus if it works well? Can't find the data on vibes or chain speed? - but as its a new model should be low vibes looks good.
  15. ms180 had bad vibes but i see the ms181 looks like its being improved loads with regards to vibes in the sales infos but not used one. Makita EA3600F40B looked your ideal saw if they still existed: https://www.makita.biz/product/category/ope/ea3600f/ea3600f_01f_ea3500s_01s_ea3200s_01s_view.pdf Has dawgs with holes for extra weight saving:
  16. Trees in general don't like having soil lvl changed - a tree well might work might not...
  17. Different saws different uses best to have both as if ones out of action so you aren't stuck. Even if you get the ms400 you will still need/want ideally a smaller saw for snedding etc? For alot of stuff the ms261 would be best most efficent saw for the job & get more hrs total use? But depends of the size of the trees you are cutting? Both a big jump up from the 024 which you sounded happy with.......
  18. Im surprised its so low esp versus other sources.... How Green Is Wind Power, Really? A New Report Tallies Up The Carbon Cost Of Renewables WWW.FORBES.COM Building and erecting wind turbines requires hundreds of tons of materials — steel, concrete, fiberglass, copper, and more...
  19. Probably as it would be stupidly expensive and not work? Also there too much stuff up there already without adding more & risk of causing the space junk armaggeddon Kessler syndrome ? 21. Whats going on with thoose teeth?
  22. This FC pdf booklet is good: https://cdn.forestresearch.gov.uk/2011/01/silviculture_thinning_guide_v1_jan2011.pdf If you want CCF might best to leave some self seeders.
  23. Supposedly they are very good for honey bees might be worth considering letting someone have hives there etc....
  24. Got one fieldfare now that seems to be the same individual living under the hedge for weeks and it is very shy of humans- but he guards any apples and defends them from the blackbirds. As described here so seem its a common behaviour... tyrkedue | The Naturephile THENATUREPHILE.COM Posts about tyrkedue written by Finn Holding
