    4 stroke chainsaw

That RCV stuff is interesting but seems nothing new happening with then for a few yrs nor sure why development stopped? https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/dc8d/d88169fbdb9399a7dbe340faf1a779a77d2c.pdf Looks good must be some downside though i assume? Dolmar had a wankel rotary chainsaw.
  4. Husky 420el 2000w (or if you like the colour teal the UC4051A makita version ) though doubt it would have any more cutting power than the florabest, just better build quality spares availiabilty and less vibrations probably. The florabest model is listed as 2200w which is about eqivalent of a good 40c petrol saw if the chains sharp should be ok unless you are bucking alot of larger diameter harwood rings. If thats the case you need say a decent 60cc petrol saw to speed the process up...... Stihl do make some slightly more powerful corded ones but they are not sold in the uk and are very pricey. MSE 250 - Very powerful electric chain saw WWW.STIHL.COM Powerful STIHL electric chain saw for demanding tasks when building with wood. With a 3/8" RS3 saw chain for high... Also if the flora has had yrs of use might be worth checking the motors carbon brushes for wear. All the corded saws still seem to have brushes im sure if the demand was there a improved more modern brushless motor corded saw like on the cordless chainsaws might improve them abit.....
  5. Where is the holly tree?
  6. The fundemental problem imo with batteries is that they are just no where near as energy dense versus petrol. Even if they improve loads I think they will still be considerably behind a 50cc petrol saw in power to weight ratio and run time. Still batteries are better now for certain tools & job situations but not atm to generally replace petrol.
  7. Think id still choose the msa220 over a msa300 as I think batteries niche atm is the smaller saws but the msa300 is trying to compete in the pro 40cc- 50cc class but has less power and more weight less runtime than petrol so I think might be underwhelming? Happy with my 18v makita. A grouptest review on the new 40v makitas & new echo versus the husky & stihl would be interesting....
  8. Probably had ash dieback no stray twigs left around as they are so distinctive on ash?
  9. But the crankcases are an identical shape in the parts diagrams I linked how do you explain that? There are some weird fake looking russian makitas also dunno if there related in anyway...... Shavey & wyk are the makita experts.
  10. My burning shame: I fitted my house with three wood-burning stoves | George Monbiot | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Wood burners are awful for the environment and flood our homes with toxins, too. I wish I’d known that in 2008, says... hmmm 🤨

  13. Would be nice if stiga carried on making the dolmar/makita saws in disguise. But that stiga spec is only 1.6kw? Maruyama had some red dolmars but stiga seems less likely as not jp based? A little advice

From another forum. Unsure if this might effect long term reliability? 545 sounds nice saw but price new isn't much different from the 550 ? The new echo CS-4310SX looks really good but is expensive so is the ms241 in 40cc saws compared to the 50cc ones.

I expect the UK remote control one is abit more pricey? Alot of the italian brands have a lecky version now also.
  21. I left 1000's on the ground which attracted a load of pheasants who pecked holes in them all. Then they all rotted to a brown mush in the warm autum weather fairly fast. Being throwing a few "fresh" ones down from storage for the blackbirds to eat.
  22. Was looking at some weird isolated medieval style walled village in the jungle near HK awhile back wasn't even a proper tarmac road to it just a very narrow stone slabbed track though the jungle , place looked like a historic film set Apparenlty triads/ extended families of several 100 all live in the same village. China was paying some of them to beat up the democracy protesters in HK. Walled villages of Hong Kong - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG Can't remember where it was now annoyingly. Seems there are alot of walled villages near HK.
  23. Don't thoose lecky vans have upgraded / regen brakes though designed for the extra weight?
  24. Can you still source the spares? Looking at the website it seems thy are stopping the development of any new models of proffesional saws and just doing homeowner ones.
  25. That japanese guy was probably wrong about capitalism & liberal democracy being the stable end state of society in history. Malthus maybe was right?
