Goats will escape unless the fencing is very good.

    Sheep

Why did you buy a 4 acre paddock and decide you want sheep but have no clue about sheep? Just seems abit odd. Get a butcher to do home slaughter and stick em in the freezer & eat them? Otherwise whats the point- pets I suppose?
  5. Never understood why pole saws are so expensive.
  6. Says 5yrs domestic 2yrs commercial shaft is 28mm Spares do seem rare (seem abit more around from italy ) for both the mitsubishi engine and the kaaz parts. Looks like a good product quality wise. Shame that they can't be organized with the spares as mitsubishi is not some obscure company after all......
  7. This bruscutter looks good any opinions? https://www.kaaz.co.jp/en/Spec/VF500.pdf Made in japan very good anti vibe stats, spares might be the downside? What are the TLE48 (Mitsubishi) engines like?
  8. If any stuff isn't splitting just put it to to one side & use the chainsaw on it.
  9. Just looked at badminton estate on google maps plenty of woods with some very long tree avenues & parkland landscaping over many acres.
  10. Thats a lot of yew I thought it was rare - as I assumed that you don't get many acres of yew woods about often its individual trees? Do you know were it came from? Maybe some large estates with planted yew avenues etc?
  11. Is a plus of the oil free ones, that unlike the oiled ones you are not blowing any out misted oil which might not be that healthy? Or it that a non issue? Haven't done a maintenance on the lidl one since bought it yrs ago so suppose this needs doing plus checking oil.

    Bar guage

Yeah i remember now it it was Rob @ chainsaw bars. But it still confused me as the new 0.50 chain & light bars etc were being marketed as cutting 20% faster. Above is direct from the stihl website: MS 261 C-M Petrol Chainsaw - Powerful 3.0 kW forestry chainsaw with Light 04 bar WWW.STIHL.CO.UK The STIHL MS 261 C-M petrol chainsaw is the perfect tool for small to medium tree maintenance work. This new version... Not sure whats true?

    Bar guage

Might cut abit slower versus a 0.50 as wider kerf / teeth on the new 0.58 matching chain means saw has to work harder... So on a 350 (50cc 2.3kw) sticking with 0.50 might be better i reckon? Casing should be ok. & the sprocket will not need chainging if chain is the same pitch......
  14. As a chain wears the gap between the bar & sprocket increases as the chain tensioner adjusts the bar outwards away from the sprocket to keep the chain the right tightness.. Might this effect how smoothly it runs? & some bars are wide near the sprocket end meaning the chain doesn't align as well as it would on a narrower bar with with the same sprocket...
  15. Dunno much about them although I remember something about them being compulsory in BC state Says so: The BC fallers guide: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjV_ZHV4pT9AhVbSkEAHRxyDMIQFnoECAwQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.worksafebc.com%2Fresources%2Fhealth-safety%2Fbooks-guides%2Fbc-faller-training-standard%2Fpart-1%3Flang%3Den&usg=AOvVaw0s-9QS-IbHzPjJvmyjOgnU
  16. So first a cylindrical then an octagonal ufo shot down - any theories? Maybe a trapezoid one next - or some other random geometry?
  17. £1800 for honda version but there are other 4 and 2 strokes ones for as low as under £300 - but im guessing its abit like chainsaws you get what you pay for?
  18. Could be a chain with stiff link?
  19. That stuff is worse than ground elder i reckon in that it seems to spread alot faster.
  20. Might be able to get a free course now im unsure if it actually works being a new gov thing but worth a go: /assets/static/govuk-opengraph-image-dade2dad5775023b0568381c4c074b86318194edb36d3d68df721eea7deeac4b.png Forestry Training Fund - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK A new Forestry Training Fund is available now to cover training costs for short, practical forestry courses.
