  5. When clearing or snedding up trees etc have found abit of extra reach is useful so like a 15" or 16" or a max of 18" for for 50cc. I got a 13" bar once to try for use on coppicing hazel but went back to the 15" on a 40cc saw. Found the extra 2" reach was more handy even though all the stuff was no more than max 4" cuts.

  13. Id of thought that the gvx160 engine on that honda might be abit small/underpowered for old tussocky paddock or orchard grass? I had a honda izy mower with the same engine that struggled with longer wet grass...... 23. Its so you can practice the techniques for bigger tree on smaller trees like boring into the centre of hinge cuts etc. Also its the bar length that suits best the 40cc - 50cc saws used on the course & the tree sizes that are felled on the course.
  24. I don't bother having each log mm perfect as long it fits in the door of the stoves fire box so I just go at it with the chainsaw no measuring or anything. I cut to make it easy to split with an axe so I saw across knots etc rather than for uniform length. Arb waste etc doesn't often come in the right dimesions to make perfect looking logs anyway unlike firewood grade roundwood etc There logs not mars bars or breeze blocks so don't all come uniform size. Some people (often its women )can be overly fussy about logs appearance imo. If you really want to get acurate put some markers on your saw horse etc I suppose....
