  1. Nice work shame its from hazel not chesnut though for durability...... I did a continious weave fence from hazel id planted lasted about 3yrs but had the bark still on, I think bark traps moisture & makes it rot faster. The stripped stuff may last abit longer.... Chesnut pailing on the other hand has lasted well over a decade.
  2. I got a merino "cycling top" from lidl a few yrs ago its really good, is the same design as the first item was £20 wish id bought 10 of them. I don't wear it often as don't want it to get wrecked as its so nice to wear and a new version or eqivalent item isn't cheap. I see the top is machine wash which is good as some wool & wool blend stuff is hand wash etc which is a pita. Alot of quality workwear is fashion brand prices which is a shame. Price now often now not anymore being a good indicator of quality. My favourite jacket I have is a javlin type fibre pile jacket of a type no one makes anymore from the now defunct welsh company Brennig. You rang them up and they would custom make a jacket to your personnal measurements for a reasoanable price.... They also used to kit out polar explorers...& out door pursuit centres
  3. Was 2000 Ravens in the local woods. NRW has decided it should be felled though as non native etc & have since clear felled some blocks which I thought is a shame alot less ravens now. Natural Resources Wales / How to catch a glimpse of the ravens on show at Newborough NATURALRESOURCES.WALES Was an amazing site when they were all flying about like the hitchcock film
  4. I have noticed some axes will rust fast while others hardly at all must be different steels. For a splitting maul I don't think sharpness is that important but the the right blade profile is, whereas for a felling axe both sharpness & blade profile is important. I don't think there are many vintage axes & UK axes about that are designed as cleaving or splitting mauls/axes like the bruk maul? Maybe they weren't a common thing until more recently but im not sure why as so many different axe head patterns etc in the old catalogues....? William Hunt & Sons, The Brades Ltd. : Export Catalogue : 1934 Edition : William Hunt & Sons, The Brades, Ltd. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive ARCHIVE.ORG 110 p., illus., 27.2 cm, trade catalog & only one maul.... Ben Scott on youtube is good on axes: https://www.youtube.com/@benscottwoodchopper/videos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=0
  5. Husky functional helmet has what looks like a basic piece of leather on the front headband which might be better....than some others? Ive never had a rash and have never cleaned it & sweat buckets in the summer. Husqvarna Helmet Sweatband SKYLANDEQUIPMENT.COM Replacement sweatband for Husqvarna functional helmets only
  6. I seems to be spreading on the map every yr so id guess one day will be UK wide? Spraying is not working or is it worthwhile to try & slow it down?
  7. When i was in uni the large coke a cola bottles has a 10p deposit
  8. How to you define good? Not gonna be the best for pratical usage as nearly 60yr old. Will have not have good AV and be heavy. Might be of interest to someone who likes collecting old chainsaws though....

  13. Have used some Citrus degreaser stuff before but not tried it on a chainsaw i think it would be good & isn't very expensive & smells nice.
  14. The cheapo tyres might have a limited max speed ratings also...?
  15. It as often goes the other way, more crappy. Even lawn mowers used to have proper bearings Why Honda Why? THEGARDENMACHINERYFORUM.CO.UK Noticed Honda has changed the wheel bearings on the IZY. They have gone from a pretty decent ball bearing... So bushing only rated to 45mph? Conservative or go 60mph for 10 miles down the motorway and high chance something bads gonna happen?
  16. £150!? WT-426B
  17. Indian bean tree? rdm guess
  18. Litters a good point. I expect untidy verges do encourage people to litter & flytip more. Makes a real mess when a verge of long grass is then cut, and all the accumulated litter is shredded into little bits.
  19. Tree shape & growth habit & twigs looks wrong for an elm?
  20. They have got slightly better in some places in the last few yrs mowing less. The dual carriage way here they now leave some bits long & cut and bail the grass on the wider verges where the flyovers are. The job strimming along miles after mile round each individual steel central divider post must be abit soul destroying.

Remembering Mike Burrows (1943-2022): “the world’s greatest bicycle designer” WWW.DESIGNWEEK.CO.UK The life and work of a maverick bicycle designer best-known for one moment in a prolific and influential career. 24. Excellent is stretching it abit ?
  25. This is my thinking more common sense. Seems to me people hate leaving piles to rot down as it look untidy but I can't see what the problem is with it.. Ever do anything with air curtain buners? The cost involved in processsing & transporting tonnes of material many miles offsite to then pay for it to be disposed of at a official recycling centre seems abit mad. The local one has several huge mountains of & what looks like mainly blackthorn scrub unchipped in there yard atm. If not allowed onsite why not have an agreement with an adjacent farmer to use there land. They spread bought fert on the pastureland surrounding the sites. Heath was created & maintained in the first place since the stone age mostly just by grazing animals.
