  8. UK etc has offshored all the manufacturing jobs and the pollution they cause to China, so we still get the cheapo stuff but without the smog. Kind of like how all the so called recyclable stuff ends up dumped abroad also.
  9. Any easy way to test % of battery degradation? Im sure my makita 5.0ah ones don't last quite as long now after 2yr use, as compared to when they were new. With the price on thoose backpacks would be nice to be able to test in few yrs time how well they are performing compared to new.

  12. Have an older version of a Makita UC4051 without the new easy chain tensioner. Used it for yrs fairly regulary to cut up firewood. The only thing replaced so far is the carbon brushes and new chains and a sprocket. Husky model looks identical to the makita. Batteries best niche atm i reckon is toppers and as an alternative for the "odd job" small saw. snedding fencing smaller jobs etc. Cross cutting a load of cord /firewood will drain batteries fast so suits corded better imo if mains is availble. Offcorse both saws & petrol is even better. A few branches to cut up - cordless . A big pile of larger meduim diamter stuff - get the corded out. Large diameter rounds of hardwoods - petrol.

    Shame nothing like that EMT stuff the yanks have in uk? The gedome i saw had galvinzed metal tubbing of some kind but maybe they used a hydraulic press? Yeah other option was 32mm mpde black pipe but the boling it in oil bit made me apprehensive is it pretty straight forward? One i saw had poly cord attached to the rod ends but can't rember how that secured them to the hubs.
