  1. Is there a building code for a garage roof ?.... how many pieces is the damaged ridge broken in to ?
  2. I used to work with GRP and that would be pretty easy to someone who knows what they are doing ...........
  3. just use a knife then a curved cabinet scraper , I do quite a bit of Ash that way ,,,fresh as possible is easier !!
  4. Yep the sap on a fresh one is a nightmare !!
  5. not this time of the year !! I have used a fair bit for turning and find it keeps OK , spalting is a sort of grey streaking effect and not particularly attractive
  6. I use these for anything thorny and wire cables .... brilliant !! Polyco Granite 5 Beta Leather Cut Resistant Gloves 891 - SafetyGloves.co.uk WWW.SAFETYGLOVES.CO.UK You Can Buy The Polyco Granite 5 Beta Leather Cut Resistant Gloves From £16.41 Each With Free UK Delivery On Orders...
  7. really ? .... what catapault do you have and what length pole ...?? I gather it is possible but I cant do it !!!
  8. Birmingham seems a logical choice for diving ....close to the coast ? ?
  9. My first suspicion would be that oil tank !! how long has it been there ? construction of concrete pad it sits on ? were roots severed laying a pipe from tank to house ? spillage of oil contaminating ground ? lines are LV 240 not 11KV , just my initial thoughts ....
  10. perhaps we could have a try at carving some topical characters ....Boris , Nigel Farage , Corbyn , Abbot ...and any EU leaders just to combine politics with art ? just to see however badly carved can we identify them ??
  11. Perhaps many ordinary Arb types who fancy having a bit of a play with chainsaw carving see the incredible work of some of the dedicated artists and feel that it would be not worth posting basic pieces on here ..... bit like comparing vids of large takedowns etc with a nice bit of hedge topping / trimming ?
  12. Yes i have seen that device where you effectively use a pulley to gear down effort and then capture but i do not really think i will bother as 60 ft is probably enough .........would be interested to know how far others get on a straight pull ...
  13. I got a bit of mild steel tube 8 foot 6 ( £10 ), with practice still only 60 foot !!!
  14. plus vat ( of oil !) ?
  15. how much are they ?? ?
  16. Sorry to hear you have so many problems with laces ? but I am the type that would ensure I have a spare set of BOA , put them somewhere safe and when ( if ) I need them wont remember where I put them !!!
  17. it is the true shot .....find it hard to get it any higher than I can throw to be honest , but getting a long metal pole tomorrow and need some practice , rubbers seem too stiff but hopefully they will become a bit more "elastic " with use !!
  18. I drive a lorry ( part time ) doing palletised deliveries ...today I delivered 2 dumpy bags of nice logs in cornwall and customer told me they were £105 each ( del inc ) cheaper than local ..........they were from the lake district !!!!
  19. Cheers for the reply ,do you keep in stock replacement lace system ? how much ?
  20. I did a bit of research on the "lacing " system and it has been around for quite a while on other footwear and it seems the replacement parts are cheap and readily available , it is just that every time I look for replacement boots there is even more choice than the last time !! hard to decide but I really do not like the massive bulky looking solid soled boots on offer that look like they are for mountaineering ....the BOAs are flexible ..
  21. Anyone got a pair ? any good ? lacing system looks vulnerable to damage in tree work but would assume Pfanner have tested this ....
  22. Anything you can lash / tie it back to for support in the meantime ??
  23. looks more like colletia cruciata to me
  24. how does a tractor replace a climber ?? Colebrook-Forge Fire Company, Colebrook, Connecticut - A tractor up... WWW.TROVER.COM A tractor up a tree! And, there's a picnic table underneath.
  25. many arbs who are any good ( or think they are !! ) seem to prefer to work for themselves and start up their own business ...........also like most trades it is costly and time consuming to get all the tickets that seem essential these days !!
