  1. me too I remember doing mine in 1 go don't know why they changed it. They've also removed 'Felling large trees' so medium trees covers you for everything over the Small tree unit. I try not to get involved with NPTC stuff, I let my employers sort that out for me
  2. I did a refresher 2 years ago and my cs38 changed to those units on my card
  3. You need to do the climbing ticket before you do the aerial rescue ticket. It's like doing your felling ticket without your maintenance ticket You can pass the climbing bit but you can fail on the aerial rescue it doesn't mean you'll fail the whole thing Unit 1 is climbing unit 2 is rescue
  4. I took you for a box of wine man
  5. Some boy. Hope you find a saw that fits your requirements, makita are dolmar much easier to source in this country. I've never had any issues with my husky saws apart from the woeful 540 maybe you got a Friday one
  6. I've explained to Pete in more detail, birch is nice and easy to chip try ash/sycamore/beech and then you'll see, I've put some pics up on my profile take a look specially the picture of the bit of brash I couldn't chip. It's a solid machine it just needs some more R&D. This is just my opinion but I don't think side rollers give any advantage if anything you're at a disadvantage they're not working with gravity. I've honestly used just about every new greenmech and spent time using them 130/150/quad chip & tracked. I could never get on with the side roller machines the roller size just seemed to narrow. A jensen a530 and a timberwolf 150 would perform better. Edit I'm not bashing greenmech I love the old 19/28 tow and the 19/28 safetrak and even the little 16/23, the newer ones seem more tame

  11. We've got one and all I can say is I want the tracked timberwolf 190 back
  12. Lockjack for me it's even better with a ART rope guide.ill say it again though every bit of climbing kit is personal preference
  13. No you don't, the rings are for the wooden ones
  14. Surely you can glaze/burn out the rope using the x rings. I'm struggling to see what benefit they have over a pulley block
  15. You learn the basics on those courses, if i was in your position I'd do the courses get qualified then hire in sub contract climbers and learn how tree work is done in the real world. If you build up a good working relationship with a subby he'll probably help you out as much as he can
  16. Thinkng my the same :confused1:
  17. Fantastic repair, I'm guessing most people would of binned the cylinder
  18. The pinin is a awesome vehicle owned mine for 2 years and I've never had any issues with it at all, it'll also give a defender a good going off road, its got decent kit on it for what it is air con, heated mirrors computer and mines got leather so wipe clean seats . Mines a 1.8 mpi and its a bit thirsty 26-28 mpg

If you've lowered before it'll be a piece of piss. Just look through the criteria with weights etc It's not a difficult unit if you've been climbing for a while
  20. Yes really I was running a 15in bar and chain I had a spare 18in bar and chain so I put it on to see what I was like and it's pretty decent it runs it well obviously not as good as a 560 but it doesn't really big down in timber. Try it if you can that little 50cc saw will surprise you
  21. I agree but it needs to be razor sharp and the the depth gauges taken down a bit, it'll cut like a gooden then I'm rocking the same setup I originally put the that bar and chain on my 550 out of curiosity and it pulls it well so it's keeped on
  22. Please explain, because I'd rather do a days work for free get experience than sit on my arse in the house doing nothing
  23. Best bet is to make a list demo them then choose one which you get on with
  24. Get your landlord to phone up your network operator and request for the trees to be removed, it'll be free if they agree
