1. Recommend to the client to fell it. If he says no I want it topped then top it where mark said
2. This morning job. This is all the instruction I had And this is what it looked like after. Not great, but better than felling the tree hey?
3. On the same topic, how easy are they to dig out I have one to remove Will it dig out ok, or is it best to stump grind it?
4. Well I can't buy one in England, Google says no longer for sale here, unless someone knows differently, where would I buy one from Europe?
5. Cheers mick. Anyone bought one from eBay from America?
6. Which model jonsered is the equivalent mick?
7. No, I left it where it was. My missus would freak if I brought that home!
8. Didn't expect this many replies to this thread! Thanks! Seems opinion is split but I'm going to side with chasing the quotes up. Like mark said nothing to lose everything to gain. Sorry if I sound desperate, but I want to get on!
9. I can't remember the first tree I felled, it would have been on a chainsaw course. But I remember one of the ones I felled for my assessment, I cut the backcut an inch lower than the bottom of the gob and still passed.
10. Chicken of the woods here on a fallen oak
11. How is it it best to approach customers who haven't got back to you after you give them a quote? And how long do you leave it before asking? I'm doing more quotes now and I'm charging more, but still hate losing jobs. Thanks will
12. Ah no sorry David, I only took these two pictures
13. Hmmm, yea the ones I want to buy go for silly high money and the ones I sell go for half as much. Got my eye on a couple at the moment
14. Just I little bit of ganoderma on and oak in a field next to a dead one we were felling
15. Great vid silky, you should do some like that!
16. Yes it looks like an oak sleeper. Yea I did use the colour seach but I didn't think it was laetiporus because it was only a single bracket.
17. Oh, picture might help
18. Saw this bracket growing from a sleeper outside a neighbours house. Only got one pic as I thought they may wonder what I was doing taking close ups of their steps! Had a look at the fungi app, but still no clue as to what it could be?
19. Go for it. I've learnt loads from trying to rebuild old saws. Lots of helpful people on here. I'm still rubbish at it tho. Guess I don't have the knack!
20. Just read through the whole thread again and picked up on a couple of points. If you're not on the saw much or doing much physical work, do you need more exercise? It's important to exercise as it physically tires you out and can help relive stress. When I was at college I didn't sleep very well cos I was sat in a classroom all day and couldn't sleep at night. I realise this isn't your exact problem but if I don't do any physical work then I struggle to sleep which then makes me more tired. You may not think you have time to run walk or swim but just try it a couple evenings a week. I think this could really help. The other thing is what Robbierasta said in the last comment. Try a super high dose of vitamin c tablets, they can help you feel better and then there is iron deficiency, which my other half suffers from, vitamin b tablets, maybe? Good luck with it, but I really recommend the exercise. If you are close to the sea swimming in the sea is really good for you, I used to love it when I lived in Devon but can't now as I live in Wiltshire Cheers will
21. You need to read the positive thinking thread I think
22. The lad who works for me sometimes is doing his 38 with them in a couple of weeks time. Look out for him he's called Steve and has a big bushy beard
23. If I'm not wearing chainsaw boots then I'm wearing my dealer boots comfy and cool
24. Turned out it didn't run out of fuel. I didn't notice it cut out, the groundie did. He thought it was out of petrol so filled it up, wouldn't start. I checked the stop button on the cage- fine, still wouldn't start after five mins he found the emergency stop button on the base which I had dropped a branch on. Got going again. It has a hand pump to get you down in an emergency but I've never had to use it. Cup of tea? At a place like that? No chance, I'd sooner work at a smaller place with a friendlier owner!
