  9. hand augers are one of the slowest most painfull things I have ever used
  10. 1.8 for me as standard but do go out to 2.4 on the odd occasion allways 4x4 posts capping we do for free unless asked not to. got asked to go and have a "look" at a new fence someone had put up and it had 3.6 spacings and posts not even 18" deep! no wonder it was blowing in the wind after a couple of weeks

  14. id rather take my time and enjoy my work! 30m I price for 2 men for to days. first day clear site, dig holes, concrete posts in, gravel boards on. seconed day rail and board up leaving plenty of time to chat with the customer and drink tea
  15. I ended up quoting £290 (£41/mtr) and didn't get the job as some quoted cheeper! good luck to them.
  16. im not going to tell my labourer to have an afternoon of because I want to go and do a job on my own!
  17. went to look at a short fence today (7m) of 4'6" tall feather edge fencing now materials are easy but what to charge for the labour ? 5x posts to dig in, concrete and rail up (1.5 hours for me and my labourer) then a return trip to board up (again 1.5 hours for me and him) now if I charge for 3 hours each for both of us its just not worth it after all the traveling and so on so what is reasonable ?
  18. had one before x-mass quoted for a big fence the fella called me back and said what would it be as a cash price and I said the same he then said in that case he would get someone els to do the fence. 3 weeks later we got a call from him to say could we go ahead and do fence lol
  19. ms460 and 230 for me to
  20. its mostly well over 22" and to get it out in any sizable pieces would be a PITA
  21. been to do a job today clearing a pop tree had 8 good loads on the movano from 1 tree! they are massive to say the least lol thing is there are 9-10 more to do 6 are flat on the ground and the rest are leaning or damaged. access is not the best to say the least would all need to be ringed up handballed out or winched out and its in a very tangled mess. its mostly over sized very big limbs and butts that the owner is trying to find someone to chip for bio but I think he is rely going to struggle to find someone to do it. now is it worth offering him anything for it? may be offer to clear the site in return for the wood?
  22. try it with disposable gloves!
