  1. It seems to have died a death!
  2. I'm based in Breckland / Attleborough and have a 27m on a 3.5 ton cabstar which I hire out with an operator occasionally,good machine 27 m top height 15 m outreach.
  3. That didn't look like a £300 report !!! Specifically on that tree ,it may have been part of a survey on all the parish tree stock. If the poster put up some more accurate pictures of the structure, health of tree we may be able to comment more accurately. The fell and replant option is an easy one but doesn't always work ,we've all seen so many sick ,drought ridden vandalised young trees.
  4. Hugh is a good chap ,he worked for me many years ago for a short time he is on the ball if he is not in the office Tracy Booker will deal with it.
  5. New Buckenham! Probably not a million miles away ,I've not been contacted to give a quote!! So maybe they are not that far on with it ,if you feel it's worth a TPO go for it ,I got one put on a tree in our village that was under threat. Hugh Coggles is the Tree Officer part time at Breckland and South Norfolk.
  6. What area in Norfolk are you in ? Some Tree Officers are a bit more proactive than others! Our parish council thought they had similar powers to yours, but if it's in a conservation area they have to give notification just like everybody else, also the property owner would need to prove or establish a good reason for its removal ,I too like you live in a conservation village in Norfolk ,with several people who wish to change the character of the village on a whim.
  7. He will have to get down to cut that fork on that piece of chestnut before that will go through !!
  8. I bought one new 8 years ago never regretted it does a great job easy to use and just lifts dirt off and doesn't use that much red diesel , and has chemical tank as well .good machine and agree totally with above.
  9. I would like to think so but suspect not as some people are just dishonest, whoever buys or receives my MS661 30 inch saw stolen on Wednesday night won't be a hobbie user and probably won't ask any questions either. More deterrent and sentences that are what your given would help.Theft and its effects on business are very damaging and any members on here who are into it damage our industry greatly.
  10. Did they buy it then Dean ?? They should have with a day's work like that ,seems a big demo but a good way to test the machine crane feeding ,how does the 86 HP cope or could it do with more ?
  11. Load resistors ,you can get them from most automotive electrical suppliers or e bay they alter the voltage so your vehicle recognises the trailer lights( indicators ) are there . There not always needed it depends on the vehicle
  12. Some very sad news both nationally and locally ,Mike Volp Norwich City Council Tree Protection Officer sadly lost his long battle against cancer on Sunday 24th May, he was a true professional passionate man of the trees and will be greatly missed.
  13. Of course you could do it with a MEWP if you wanted to cut your way in simple! Looks like a day for 3 man team @£1000 should do it.any less let them have it.
  14. Spot on:thumbup:
  15. Like a full bodied italian Barolo perfect for us mature men!!
  16. I've just looked her up she's the new Bond girl!! A cracker,I'm installing a rope in my mewp tomorrow just in case!! Plus I'm at vertikal Days at haydock park tomorrow so will spread the word they'll all be installing them Bronto , Ruthmann,Genie,CTE etc.
  17. Paranoia apart from the last one which is just wishful thinking!
  18. Just the same as some trees snap just after a visual inspection , we still climb them, I agree there are no guarantees with anything mechanical or natural. I also agree that this thread is going in circles and the original poster had made up his mind about the stout rope idea and just needs to do it. If he can attach a safety rope to a building then do the painting by rope access and forget about the 'dangerous mewp'
  19. You can't help some people:thumbup:
  20. Never say never!
  21. You need to do what you think or perceive to be best!! The incident with the bus was purely down to poor traffic management ,what would they have attached to under your methodology ? A sky hook ? If you have problems with your machines legs cutting out fix them or the sensors,if you don't trust your machine then don't use it,if your unsure of the ground don't set up and as for grabbing your stout rope in time would you have time to drop your tools etc grab it cleanly exit the cage cleanly and swing away like Tarzan I think not. I think most people who operate and own mewps have given you their honest opinion on your idea I come from the background of being an owner opperator for the past 20 years and don't think its sensible.
  22. I think when a MEWP goes over your not really going to have much time to grab a rope and let yourself down ,also if permanently attached to tree or building and the Mewp goes over you could be the link between the mewp and that object if you don't jump out of the cage cleanly. Invest in a good set of pads set the machine up correctly including traffic cordon, and have a person on the ground familiar with the ground controls.
  23. And no outreach!
  24. There just brought out a new version ours is 3 years old new one will do 16.4 m with 100kg in cage. Will post some pictures of ours.
  25. Hi self levelling outriggers can set up on 5 degree incline computer controlled.
