  1. Nice shoes. H-A
  2. Very nice gate, very classy, love the iron work. Will the Iron work stain the wood when it rains? I have been caught out with iron and oak. I would have given it a little more expansion room, when it acclimatises in the next wet period it looks like it could bind. H-A
  3. Easy-Flo works well you can get it from model engineering suppliers, or ebay SILVER BRAZING SOLDER & FLUX KIT Ag130 x10 rods & Johnson Matthey Easy-flo flux | eBay Mapp Gas in a Rothenberger torch is good. H-A

    Everyday sexism?

That is a little one sided, I must redress the balance. Can't just have Stihl saws. H-A

    loppers

lots of choices here http://www.gardenforumhorticulture.co.uk/documents/Loppers.pdf H-A
  9. I do like the new Husqvarna ones, but I also have no problem with the Stihl ones. The old Husqvarna oil caps were a bit rubbish the rim broke off. H-A
  10. It will happen, it only need some one like Screwfix, Argos, or Wickes to get involved. Tesco have click and collect, as does John Lewis. it works very well. Drop your saw off at your local Waitrose, pick it up a couple of days later, all correspondence via email. H-A
  11. I think the younger generation will be getting their information on line, do not discount forums for there information value, and other on line sources. They won't even bother going to the suppliers, they might Tweet them or look at their facebook page. The information on this site and many others is at the front edge, If a product is not much good you may well see it here first. Adapt and survive. H-A
  12. My nearest decent supplier who hold a good level of stock is about 12 miles away. So for large purchases it is worth the trip. For smaller items such as chains I go on line. For spares, as I am not reliant on saws for my main income, I also go on line. It is much easier to search for the bit with some one like Mister-Solutions or LS Eng, type in the part number, pay with Paypal, all very easy, saves a trip or phone call to the dealer and a possible trip to pick the bits up. I think it is down to the suppliers to keep up with technology, a good web sight is essential, my nearest supplier is Honey Brothers who I have used for a long time. Their website is fresh and very good, but when I wanted a new saw I also looked at some of the other site sponsors sites to compare prices. Retailers should not sit back and wait for people to come through the shop door, if they do then they will see a drop in sales as the next generation become their target buyers. Is there an app for buying Stihl or Husqvarna spares? not that I am aware of. Is it was set up correctly a text to the suppliers and you should get it the next day. Look at Amazon for books, why would you ever bother to go to a town to visit a book shop. I know that the market place is changing at a great rate, but wanting a smiling face behind a counter is sadly becoming a thing of the past. Which of the site sponsors will be the first to do "Click and Collect". H-A

    Which oil

This response from Esso is more interesting. "Thank you for contacting Esso Customer Care. May I assure you that any enquiry received by Esso is taken extremely seriously and followed up as appropriate. Please read our statement about the content of ethanol in our fuels as follows. All premium unleaded petrol marketed in the UK by Esso contains an ethanol content of up to 5% by volume. Our energy Supreme Unleaded is largely ethanol free with the exception of Scotland, the North eastern corner of England and the far South West. Most vintage cars are compatible with ethanol up to 5%, although we are aware of concerns by the vintage car community. Where ethanol free energy Supreme Unleaded is available, customers may wish to choose that grade – at least 80% of Esso retailed energy Supreme Unleaded is ethanol free and will remain so into the forseeable future. There is no ethanol in our diesel. I hope this information helps. Read it again, 3% methanol, 5% ethanol. Plus other alcohols. H-A

    Which oil

That is very true, we need more information about the petrol that we buy. H-A

But do we need to think of using this. More money but fully synthetic. H-A
  24. My wife was in Gwithian towans the summer before last, with her sister and lots of kids. They came across this. They were not sure what it was, but to cut a very long story short my nephew spent the night in hospital under observation after he was bitten on the finger. Finger swelled up and went black, he won't do that again. It is apparently a "Dune Adder", according to the lady in the pharmacy. Very different colouring, quite stunning. H-A
  25. I have a couple of pairs of these in the van for the "I should be wearing gloves for this" moments. Just ask HID to pick you up a pair when she is shopping. H-A
