  2. Sod it I thought I was going for the record at 1.6 million:thumbdown: The foreign truckers dont like it when you sail on by:thumbup1: Bob
  3. I am developing webbed feet. Bob
  4. I have a 110 he can buy cheap:001_tt2: L200 on BFG allterrains is as good as any 4X4. The old pig we have gets about really well but as said a trailer will bring most things to a stop. Bob

    small van

We have a few small vans and they all do 40 + mpg. The most comfy of them is the Peugeot partner , the Freelander td4 commercial is a good little van and the same again good on fuel. Bob
  6. A landy 90 and l200 both with the best part of 300k . The poor old Foden has done a staggering 1.6 million miles , cant see that getting topped here. Bob
  7. FAF [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBYoZF408bc]Prank call to a BMW dealer - YouTube[/ame] Bob
  8. I think that most accidents are probably of trailers that are badly loaded or overloaded and not badly maintained. You see tank slappers involving trailers all the time and I have seen loads of caravans on their side over the years. Bob
  9. Anything towed on the road already has to conform to construction and uses. It is plods job to find enforce, fine and impound dodgy trailers. I know what you are saying about some of the crud out there but we keep our trailers up together and if you count every thing towed as a trailer we will be having to MOT another 8 units per annum , sorry make that 10 if you include the lighting tower and traffic lights. Its just another tier of B/S we dont need, the stats in the report prove that the trailer test has made virtually no difference to accident rates in Germany. Bob
  10. It does appear that the caravan club have been active and they have made quite big strides in abolishing the proposed trailer mot. Not set in stone but worth a read because they are probably the only body putting up a fight. Covers trailers up to 3500kg. MOTs for caravans - FAQs | Advice & Training | The Caravan Club Bob
  11. I can vouch for the Ranger,Hilux and mitzi because we run them and by and large they are all good with the Mitzy being the most car like, there is VW Amorak that belongs to one of the horsey brigade in the yard and I was having a really good look at it. Its very plasticky for one thing and the steel panels are painfully thin, as nice as it looks I dont think it would last long in the hands of our lot. Bob
  12. On the back of the 6x6 magdeutz I have kept the slew rams of the crane below the height of the bearers so the timber can pass over the top. Also put all the controls etc under a plate that is also lower. Bob
  13. This will probably end up being a long and drawn out blamefest. That tree should have been highlighted in the original planning application , the arb consultant working for the developer should have given clear instruction for the tree to have root zone protection fencing erected in part around that section of the site. This is normally checked on by the council and arb consultants but seems in your case to have been overlooked, as far as damage to the tree goes for the best will in the world its going to be a case of time will tell. Chopping of roots is not ideal but happens all the time with fencers and service layers with little or nothing said. Bob
  14. I was behind this truck the other day and it looks the nuts which is more than I can say about your cycle rack Jonny Bob
  15. This is out of date but worth a read. timber sales news Bob
  16. I was thinking more in terms of the value of the stick to the carver, this guy can possibly get his £60 a ton for his timber without touching it. I just thought that going through the hassle of dropping the tree, trimming it out etc must be worth a little over the top of saw log. Bob
  17. This crowd have a depot near here. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=145012&stc=1&d=1388688690
  18. Some hardwoods have been selling at auction for over £60 a ton standing so that stick must be worth £150 to the Carver I would have thought, that would be subject to it being sound. Bob
  19. It wont be cheap because of the nature of the operation but its not an open cheque by any means because the loss adjusters will be involved. Bob
  20. Had this to deal with the other day so we made it safe and waited for the winds to die down a bit. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/66232-storm-pictures-put-them-here-18.html Decision was made to crane it down but could not get near the job because of the amount of room a normal crane needs with all its legs out. A mate of mine has got a tractor unit with a monster Hiab on it that can lift 4 ton at a staggering 50` so down he came. First job was to crane it off the roof by lifting the whole tree over the stack. We then backed up our truck and craned off the top in sections while he held it. While he was there we got him to tear out the stumps. Nice lorry and crane but at £250k I dont think I will be buying one http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=144930&shttp://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=144931http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=144932&stc=1&d=1388581814&stc=1&d=1388581814tc=1&d=1388581814http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=144933&stc=1&d=1388581814
  21. Its funny you should pop that question because a bloke turned up in a minibus the other day and asked for 20 bags and we stuffed them into just about every nook and cranny to get them in . I was thinking then we are probably giving them away because it looked like a darn site more logs than a mate of mine delivers out for £80. A local garden center has pallets of 40 off us and they sit on the euro pallet about 4`x 3` stacked to about 5` high. Bob
  22. £3 a bag or two for £5 .We are not big into logs because we sell all our wood , we do about 50 ton at the gate most years because we have main road frontage. Thats just off a small sign saying bagged logs for sale. Bob
  23. We use the orange 25kg bags. The green ones fall apart Firewood Sacks log sacks vegetable sacks carrots onions kindling wood bags Bob
  24. +1 on this. I always reckon on 100hp per meter cut with a mulcher so 1.2mtr for a flail on 75hp would be the max. What the smaller machines lack in grunt they make up for in agility so I would go for less cut and run over it twice. Bob
  25. I like all the stinking cheese but back to the most boring and it has to be the plastic wrapped processed crud Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=144770&stc=1&d=1388443366
