    rake

Do you want a leaf rake or something more like a tarmac rake ? Faithfull tarmac rake will last ages.
  2. This is my Lambretta. It's not bell end purple though
  3. It's well run in then
  4. I can sympathise on the drilled digit. I was riveting some bits on an old Mini and put a 1/8" drill completely through my left little finger. I pulled it out still spinning and it brought the filling with it. I didn't faint but my wife said I was a funny colour and I could see spots before my eyes and had to sit down on the floor. My wife took me to hospital and a kind nurse (not really) looked at it then snipped the hanging stuff off with a pair of scissors. I almost p!&&ed my pants there are a lot of nerves in fingers. I was given the obligatory tetanus jab so I went in with a finger injury and came out with a limp. The doctor who looked at it said I was lucky as it went between the tendon and the bone, I thought lucky would have been if I hadn't done it at all. Keep it clean and well padded till it heals there's only a tiny white mark now where mine was. You could put "what's on your bench today, there's blood on mine".
  5. Saws with no set on them can be sharpened by rubbing on a flat oil or water stone, they do get gradually thinner but it would take an age to wear them out completely
  6. If it didn't have a handle the head would be pretty useless and if it didn't have a head it would be a stick I bought a cheap fibre glass handled maul and broke a chunk out of the cutting edge in a piece of wood so I straightened the edge off with the angle grinder and tapered the head and it is now 10 times better than it was and doesn't stick any more. I usually swing it once then knock it through with a hammer if it hasn't split what I was hitting. I have a polypropylene handled felling axe that I bought for £1 from a flea market and it has been well used to good effect and I don't get hung up on what the best handle material is, wood, plastic or fibreglass they all do the job.
  7. There's an old Danarm on Preloved might be worth a punt at £40 if you are looking for one.
  8. If you can heat the bolt up it should soften the Loctite and come undone.

    Bing maps

They still have a Rowan tree in our back garden and I cut it up for firewood 6 years ago
  10. I once cut a tree down for the Latterday Saints church round the corner. I got to keep the wood and they promised me I'd go to Heaven.
  11. Turn the L screw in a bit then speed the tickover up with the tickover screw. If you can rebuild the saw you should learn to set it up. Get it warm then twiddle the screws and you can soon get the hang of it. It's not witchcraft, watch a couple of youtubes and follow what they do. You can get it running and let your man do the fine tuning and set the revs with the H screw.

    070 part

You can get aluminium brazing rod to build up broken parts using copper backing plates. We once attached a fairing bracket to a Suzuki frame using it and it stayed on for the life of the bike till it was sold.
  13. I read somewhere a while ago that they are rebranded Gransfors axes so should be good if they are similar quality.
  14. What saw is a 540 xp, it should be a top handle shouldn't it ? It looks like they are getting it mixed up with the 560 xp they were selling under a different name with a very similar description.
  15. Here they are. 15" or 18" seem to be the going offers.
  16. That "well done" and "gently Bentley" sounded very Derbyshire to me. I was expecting the saw to fall out of the tree after every cut, I would have at least put a tether on it to the tree somewhere if he couldn't hang it on his belt.
  17. Mine's like that but without one side missing, I can see the angle grinder coming out soon
  18. Did you take it back to the same dealer that you purchased it from ? I would be tempted to contact Husqvarna to ask them if the carburettor is covered under warranty and explain how you have been treated by the dealer. You might not get anywhere but it is best to register any complaint and you should be entitled to 2 years warranty if you registered the saw as a domestic user.
  19. Most 9" angle grinders run at something round 6,500 rpm so they wouldn't set any cutting records either ( I know, it's not a serious post )
  20. I'll have to keep an eye out for a draw knife as they look handy for making handles.
  21. Sell it to someone who owns a Land Rover series they'll use it in a fortnight
  22. I just bought a Gilpin, Wedges and Mills No2 hook on ebay for £13. I've been looking at hooks for ages and finally got one.
  23. Do you have a HSS hire shop local ?
  24. I don't think it's a grammatical error just confusion over spelling of two words with similar sound. Never having broken a chain I was unsure if the chain breaking operated the brake.
