  1. We used to use them for banding materials onto pallets as above. You need the appropriate band and clips, metal and polypropylene band for the respective types. Pull the band through the slot by hand then tension it with the lever. Put the clip on and crimp it then push the lever down firmly to cut.
  2. Yodel tracking is brilliant. We were waiting for a parcel and the tracking said it was sent to Milton Keynes and 12 hours later it said sent to wrong hub now sent to Sheffield then sent to Wednesbury before it came to us so it had gone by us twice before we eventually got it.
  3. You could have hired one when the work came in and not had the bother of mending it, storing it and looking for work to justify buying it. If the price was right and you have room for it no problem though and you might make a bit of money on it in the long run.
  4. I bet it hardly noticed the combined weight of all those beards
  5. You're married to Zoe ? My favourite page 3 girl after Linda Lusardi retired. It looked like he took too much at one go to me although I am definitely no expert.
  6. They have them already, they are going round in pickups selling them door to door.
  7. I went to the local dealer the other day and noticed he is selling Mitox machines alongside Husqvarna.

    Stihl

    Is this you ?
  9. "While you're here" jobs and their counterpart "can you just" should always be added on in agreement not expected to be part of the original contract.
  10. If Stihl and Husqvarna read these threads can they explain why saws are so much cheaper in US than UK ? If something is made in Sweden surely it should cost less nearer to home.
  11. Many years ago a Polish chap who worked down the pit with my father in law was extolling the virtues of some cheap meat his wife got him for sandwiches. It turned out to be Chappie, they didn't have the heart to tell him and it never did him any harm.
  12. We used to climb trees to the rookery where my dad worked. They were massive even though we were under 10 years old and couldn't reach the bottom branches. We used to "borrow" some 6" nails from the shed and knock them in with a brick to get to the lower branches then climb up another 30 or 40 feet. We also used to play skimming tin lids on some ground near home and I once threw one in the air and it did a boomerang impression and came back to hit me in the forehead giving me a gash and some impressive blood running down the face. I ran back to the house and our next door neighbour saw me and she promptly fainted needing more treatment than I did. We were taught from a very early age not to point an air rifle at anyone loaded or otherwise, my aunt still has a pellet lodged in her face from someone not following orders and could have lost an eye or worse.
  13. Alright if it's cat C or D but if it's sold by the insurance for spares only you can't re-register it to go on the road.
  14. It's a second hand one but it's perfect in the bore. I looked at a 150 conversion but it wasn't worth it really as the piston is like new and it's only an old clunker.
  15. That's perfect Chris, I can put it back together when I get the gaskets now. It should be Wednesday so she can be back on the road for the weekend.
  16. I can't speculate on how much profit you should make or need to make without some kind of insight into the size of your business and your outlay on machinery etc. but I have looked on google at the example you asked about and notice it is available from £516 inc.vat. to £982 with heated grips and carb and £862 without so either someone is cutting themselves to the quick or the high seller is raking it in when he makes a sale.
  17. It's not a chainsaw or a two stroke but it's an engine none the less. It's a Suzuki GZ 125 engine whose cam chain had eaten through the side of the block and I got the job of stripping it and putting a new block and chain in it. I've been looking for a manual online because I want to know where the timing marks are and what to torque the head bolts down to (usually just plenty or till my elbow clicks)
  18. I went a ride up Cromford on my bike yesterday and saw something that looked very similar high up in a couple of Ash trees. I stopped and on closer inspection came to the conclusion that they were not Red Pandas but clumps of Mistletoe.
  19. I read it as, even though some people are sometimes gruff with others and question their abilities or methods they also have a valid contribution to make so it is better to put up with their attitude than ban or censor them. His name is Mr Bown not Brown by the way

    Bad Juju

Get your gloves and glasses on when you use the grinder. You use PPE for the saw and it's just as lethal.
  21. He doesn't bite much but he's got a nasty suck on him
  22. Our present freezer is a frost free model but when the old one needed doing I used to open the door and put the fan heater blowing into it for 15 minutes before starting. You could hear the ice falling when it was ready for attacking with tools. On the shredder subject I hired one from a local tool supplier a couple of years ago and took it back as all it did was turn the branches into loops that looked a bit like caterpillars. I can't remember what make it was.
  23. Car batteries and metal go to the scrap yard nowadays when I have anything like a trailer load. Batteries fetch 35p a kilo and the last lot I took along with some steel in the 4ft trailer made me £26. Better than a poke with a sharp stick I thought.
  24. That's very kind, tuck him in as well eggs
  25. As kids we used to eat the Spiller's Shapes as well as feeding them to the dog. If you get a sudden urge to start licking your balls stop straight away.
