  2. Sorry i missed your reply, i'll be chipping them up on monday. Rob
  3. I've got a 90 day payment time with my one & only commercial customer, & they are a month over due now, but just got back from the bank & its now in the pending(was'nt there yesterday afternoon)column so they've finaly got their finger out. Rob
  4. I've got some branches to chip up at Grantham, but will only come to about 2/3 builders bags. Rob
  5. I started up last year, & wanted a small chipper. In the end i got a well used treebusta, that has served me well, but if buisness grows then i will be looking at getting a better one, so i'll be watching this thread with interest. Rob
  6. Nottingham prison were making them at one time, also making the newspaper ones, they had some sort of new boiler fitted that ran on them. Rob
  7. Thanks for the tip !. Used it today, very impressed with the reach it gives me & the fact you can get right in close to the work. A lot of money, but it does seem to be a big help, thanks for the advice. Rob
  8. Wish i'd read your reply sooner chopper, anyway i went for the workware heavy duty in 12ft. Just got home to find it in the hall wrapped in bubble wrap, looking like something from the lunar landings. Been thinking, i do have some one who works partime for me on an as & when required basis, & he is a little fat f***** so maybe getting the heavy duty one was a wise move, but if i need another size, & sods law says i will at least i know i can get away with the standard ones. Rob
  9. I'm the same in that i use my van to do other sorts of work(loft/garage clearance etc...)& sometimes don't wnat it sign written. The magnetic ones don't move at the max speed limit(as has been said), i found them to be good value, & when parked in a clients grounds, i have taken one off stuck it on a piece of sheet metal & put it outside as an advertisement, duel purpose !. Rob
  10. Thanks for the advice, do i go for the heavy duty or the standard ?, as weight wise i'm up around 14.7 stone, so pushing the upper working limit on the standard ones. Regards, Rob
  11. Is anyone using them ?, if so what size & make, & are you happy with them or do you think a different size would be of more use ?. I'm a gardener not a tree surgeon, but do prune low trees(insured up to 5 metres) cut hedges, i've been thinking of the 10/12ft size but not sure. Thanks for looking, Rob
  12. Get magnetic ones, & tell the guy you work for, that you are prepared to have his magnetic ones, on your vehicle when working for him, if he provides them. But when not working for him you will have your own signs on. Rob
  13. Well done !, I'm new to the trade to, not got many customers(but its building up)just need a waste licence now. Rob
  14. Slightly related to this thread, last week i was cutting the hedge of Rory Underwoods neighbour. He came out & had a chat(did'nt get any work from him though !) but he gave me some free first aid kits !, as he had more than he needed. Seemed a genuine, nice bloke. He must of been concerned about the way i was working ! Rob
  15. Took mine to a car garage, they i'd it & orderd me one, cost about £20, but that was for a entec treebusta. Rob
  16. Thats the one Steve. Been using it for 2 days now, it is a bit "tinny" but that long handle makes such a difference. I've used it scrape weeds/moss from block paving & to shovel up wet leaves, £14 well spent. The handle is a nice piece(poss ash ?)of wood, i've been looking around to try & find a spare to make a walking stick from but been unsuccesful. Rob
  17. I was down ther just before christmas, its not far from me & i've known the owner for a number of years, but yep count your fingers, he's a shrewd buisness man ! Rob
  18. Looks like not such a good buy then. Sorry gents thought it might of been of interest for anyone looking at getting a long handled shovel. Rob
  19. I've just orderd the above but with the long handle, under £14 deliverd from amazon. Rob
  20. They look interesting, so where's the local dealer, you're Belvoir, i'm in Grantham. Rob
  21. Got a few photos but not good at this posting lark. Dad had a reserved occupation(slaughterman/butcher)but lied about his age & joined the army anyway. He saw action in Italy(18th birthday in the front line)Germany, & the low countries, did a total of 4yrs, 1942 & de-mobbed in 1947, he was with the Welsh guards, but is'nt Welsh, was wounded & left behind in Italy but found by American troops(thank you America). Rob
  22. I had a Nissan vanette, that high security dead locks on it, which i got 2nd hand off an arms dealer, these were just on the back doors as there was a bulkhead. Speak to a few different locksmiths who have experience of high security vehicle locks. Rob
  23. Went to school with a guy who's parents were big rock & roll fans, they named him after Dwayne Eddie, no big deal until you know the surname... PIPE ! Rob
  24. Thanks again, for the advice. I got the stihl backpack blower a few weeks ago, & that is good, just thought i might be missing a trick with the vacuums, but looks like i was'nt !. Rob
