    moles

Just got the keys to my new house & that has a mole problem, as does a client with a big garden. Thanks for the tips. Rob
  2. I had the bin men stop by me when I was working, & say "is that all you've got ? " Me "yes" Binmen, "chuck it in here then mate, no point in you messing about ". I was gob smacked to say the least. Rob
  3. Thinking of getting a scarifier myself, any other models worth looking at ?. Rob
  4. Yep 200k. I take the chute off mine(4 19mm nuts)when I move it about, takes a bit longer, but takes about 40k off the weight, but unless its a straight flat run so much easier. If there's 2 of us then, I transport it minus the chute, put it back on then 2 can manage it without to many problems. Rob
  5. Four of those metal builders stakes with the curly tops(what are they called ?) one on each corner of a builders bag. Rob
  6. Thanks for the advice. Its in a clients garden so hopefully this will restrict any ne'erdowells turning up un announced !. No shooting I'm afraid, sorry. Rob
  7. Any one do any ferreting in the Lincolnshire area ?. Got a client with a rabbit problem that needs sorting. Regards, Rob
  8. Thanks Gregg, we aren't far away from each other & I've seen your vehicle about. How many hours has it done ? Rob
  9. Thanks for the replies, & showing the photo of yours at work Dan. As has been said, I also won't be doing that many, some for myself & now & again for clients, so don't want(in fact can't)to lay out a huge amount of money for one, so its got to be a pedestrian one for me if I choose to get one. Rob
  10. How much use does yours get Dan ?, & what sort of size stump can it grind, is it just a question off working your way round the stump ? Sorry for the daft questions, but never having used one, I'm interested as to how they get on. I won't be doing anything massive, poss a max of 12/14 inches, mostly a lot less. Regards, Rob
  11. Thanks Dan, do you have a link ?. Rob Its ok found them
  12. Thanks skyhuk, I thought 9hp sounded a bit small. Paul, It depends if you do "mates rates" !. what sort are you looking at ? Rob
  13. I've never used one, but the property I'm buying has a couple in the grounds & also there's a conifer hedge to come out as well as a couple of big conifers to come down, & I have clients who have stumps in their gardens. So just been having a look on ebay & they "seem cheaper" than I thought they would be, with reasonable looking one's with 9hp engines around the £1000 + mark. Any tips & advice on what to avoid, or look at would be appreciated. Regards, Rob
  14. Not a tree surgeon, but I wear green logo'd polo shirt, scruffs light weight trousers, or Aldi workwear trousers, stihl chainsaw trousers & scruffs shorts in the summer. I also wear heavy cotton "fisherman's smocks" that are logo'd. Footwear varies between airstreams & sandals !, depending on what I'm doing. Put clean clothes on every day, you will get dirty, its the nature of the work, but at least when you start you look good, & a client will easily tell if its one days worth of dirt, or that you are a complete minger !. I've got an ex Grenadier guardsman who some times lends me a hand, & he irons his jeans everyday !. Rob
  15. I did a fair bit of work for a letting agent last year, mostly replacing fence panels & garden tidy ups between tenants. The money is good, & I've found the time it takes to get paid varies from landlord to landlord. I started to contact the landlords direct on completion of the job, & this speeded up payment, but the agents put a stop to that, I think because they weren't getting to put the money in their bank for a few weeks. I also have one commercial contract which pays 90 days in arrear's that's a pain, but at least they pay promptly on the 90 days. Rob
  16. Not sure how to post a link so hope this works. Rob
  17. Your are probably right, certainly on paper it looks it, & I like the look of it !. However its a lot heavier, twice the price, & for me I'd want it to either go in my trailer or the back of the van, so trailer mounted wouldn't work for me, at the moment, but they've thought it through & offer loads of different options on it. Its the next step up, i'll have to see how business goes, but its new lawnmowers first !. Rob
  18. The issue with the minor, is how wide the chute is, its a lot narrower than the one on the major, & would only be for occasional use by say a domestic user, so you are very limited as to what it will take. The major will take a huge amount of stuff at one time, just cram it in & eventualy it will go through. I've stalled mine on arms full of yew clippings, so I just steadily feed the dense stuff like that in, & it works great. I paid £2600 for mine direct from the importers, as I told them I wouldn't deal with the local dealers, who are Henton & Chattel, who in my opinion are not competent. When I told them this, they arranged for H&C to come out & see me when the chipper was deliverd, & to prove my point, they never turned up !. Being realy happy with the 4s, I've started wondering how good the next one up must be, but at about £5000 there's a lot of competition out there. Rob
  19. Things are looking promising so far, a steady growth would suit me nicely. Rob
  20. So are you guys that vote for the eliet majors owners/users as well ?. I was using mine again to day, after felling a holly tree, filled a builders bag & 2 wheelie bins with it, it chipped everything. Rob
  21. There stuff looks to good to be true, but the reviews are all good, like the look of that saw, & the auger. Rob
  22. They say a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush, but put your hand in the bush & its priceless... Rob
