  1. Lol my first thought was plant a few onions as well then they will be fully seasoned..... The client is convinced that the sage will drive them away... His garden is fenced with chicken wire, but its in a poor condition & on initial inspection I found a 9 holes & places where the wire wasn't sunk in to the ground & the rabbits had come underneath it. The garden has fields on 3 sides, & is a large garden. He also thinks if he plants everything in tubs & troughs they won't be able to get at it. Rob
  2. you are right, it could be that I don't need a ride on, i'll have a look at large walk behinds. Rob
  3. A client is insistent that is I plant sage all round his flower beds that this will deter rabbits from raiding his garden. My rabbit "expert"(a vet nurse)disagree's & says rabbits will eat it or just jump over it. Is the collective brain on here, aware of any plants that will deter rabbits from raiding the flower beds ? Rob
  4. Thanks folks for taking the time to reply. As well as the up & coming job, I do one other large domestic one of the same size & currently use their aging mtd, which gives a mediocre cut at best, I also have a factory, where I cut a 2metre strip around the edge of an acre field. Also I will be moving house in the near future & my new place has a third of an acre lawn. I have a 7x5 Paxton caged trailer & was hoping to be able to fit the mower in that, do you think it will be to high off the ground to drive it up ramps in to it ?. Regards, Rob
  5. I've got a job starting in the new year, which includes cutting the grass, which is approx. half an acre. So will be looking for a ride on, which when I've got one will also be used at a couple of other sites. I'm hoping to pick the collective brains on here of what models to look at, hoping to buy used, but if I get new I will have a max of £2k, but would like to spend a lot less !. Regards & wishing everyone a merry Christmas. Rob
  6. Just seen this thread. I went head to head so speak against a tractor mounted splitter, vs me with an axe & a maul. After 2 hours I was just ahead, sweaty & bollocksed, he on the other hand was stood in the shade supping tea while splitting..... This was a few years ago when I was a bit of a gym monkey, my fitness & strength weren't in question, however my intelligence for taking the challenge was a different matter. Rob
  7. A quick google Paul, & it says they are American made, seem to have a good reputation over there. Hope this one goes well for you if you decide to bid on it. Let me know how you get on. Rob
  8. What size tree work do you do ?, I ask as you sound in a similar situation to me. I only do small tree's, cut hedges & gardening, & now use the eliet major 4s, I've put 40mm through it with no problems, & its supposed to do up to 50mm, but anything that size goes to people who use logs. For me as a small business its a great piece of kit, Friday I was putting a mixture of branches long grass/weeds & hedge cuttings through it & it shreds it up to nothing. Rob

    Loppers

I broke the telescopic ratchet on my rs650t wolf loppers, has anyone else done this & if so is it fixable ?, & can anyone recommend any other makes, I prefer the anvil type as I don't have to open them so far. Rob
  11. Was in there last Monday, I'd been mowing in the rain & had a minor problem with the mower, so stopped off & they fixed it there & then. Then I get the "Its looking its age, & you did only buy it as a stop gap, & its really only a domestic mower...." "....we haven't sold any of the cobras to a professional user yet, how about a big discount & you be our guinea pig on them ?...." Did'nt go for it there & then but did say I'd think about it, & everything they said was true, anyone got experience of the cobra range ? Rob
  12. Lol, now don it Paul !. Rob
  13. Not a Mewp, but I had Shaun out on Saturday with his tractor, nice bloke & did a good job. Rob
  14. Just been out to try & get some grease nipples, but no where seems to have any the right size, any idea what size/make/thread to get ? Rob
  15. We've sold our house, so when its sorted we are going back to Madeira again. Rob
  16. Madeira is fine on the front, the promenade goes for miles following the coast & is mostly flatish. It a lovely place. Rob
  17. Finaly got round to doing this today, it was a small rubber washer that had come adrift, having pulled over a small metal washer & screw. Now re-attached using a larger washer, & its back working again. Thanks for the advice. Rob
  18. I'll see you there, will come & say hello. Rob
  19. Sounds like hanging on to it until next spring is you best option. But if you want rid i'll go £30 & throw in a pack of custard creams... Rob
  20. I saw a video of the "grillo" mowers they look good. Rob
  21. I've got the 7x5 Paxton with cage sides, & I'm happy with it. Rob

  23. There's a church next to one of my weekly clients, & I've been asked to put in a quote, to remove ivy from the church yard remove all elder bushes, prune the tree's & cut the grass. The elder & ivy should be fairly easy to quote for, the tree's are beyond me, so i'll look to seek out some one local to help with that, but its the cutting of grass I'm not sure about quoting for, so any advice would be appreciated. There is currently a contractor for the grass but they aren't happy with them. Regards, Rob
  24. I used Viking signs in Grantham, buts that where I am, speak to people in your area that have sign written vehicles, that'll give you some idea of who's good or not in your area. Rob
