  1. Tried it the other day & it worked fine enabling me to reach the tops of some conifers that were on a slope. The extension pole only has a picture of it in use with a chainsaw attachment on it. Now has anyone used this system with the chainsaw attachment & 2 extension poles ? Rob
  2. Lol, £20, does'nt sound to bad as i got them for free !. Thanks Steve, i'll get them out & do that. Regards, Rob
  3. Interesting thread, last month i cleared an attic out for a couple, & was told i could keep anything i wanted. I got loads of new pine battoning, & 13 what i call as a layman, rough sawn planks, ie the bark still on the long edges, with out getting them out of storage, i'd say they are about 4ft long 18" wide & 1/2" thick. They are a pale colour wood. The owners of the property have been there 12yrs & the planks were there when they moved in, how can i tell what sort of wood they are, so i can get an idea of there worth ?. Regards, Rob
  4. I agree, 10 out of 10 for approaching me. I could'nt of given him much work as i'm a one man buisness, but a couple of hours here & there would of got him some pocket money. About 12yrs ago, my daughter spent a week on work experience at Belton house in Grantham with the gardens dept, so we are talking about a 16yr old girl. She worked hard & the head gardener gave her a very good report & offerd her a position. However, a guy in his 40's was also there on a get you back to work type scheme. He complained about her, for, & i still have difficulty believing this.... :001_rolleyes:Working to hard & showing him up ! So it is'nt just youngsters who don't want work. Rob
  5. Seems like we are mostly on the same wave length. I do realise now that i was "out of order" expecting him to talk to me when asking for work instead of arranging his social life. When he turned his back, i thought "ignorant little b*****d !", then i thought is this a distraction attempt, or is he telling some one what kit i have ?, however, apart from what i was using(my treebusta)everything else was locked in the van, apart from the silky on my belt, so my kit was safe. I'd turned the busta off when he approached, so i started it back up again as he was on his phone, & he just looked at me scowling & wonderd off. Rob
  6. ..."Got any work mate ?" "I'm a good worker, ask anyone" Before i had chance to reply his mobile rang, he answerd it with out saying anything to me, then carried on a social conversation with someone. I then asked him if he was interested in any work, he replied "i'm on me mobile mate", & turned his back on me ! Rob
  7. I'm a one man buisness, i have one commercial contract. Private jobs i charge £15 an hour, the commercial is £20, as it takes them time to pay. Rob
  8. Almost forgot, as an apprentice in the 70's, i made the skirting boards for the visitors centre, & helped make the gents urinal, "eee when i were a lad, we knew how to live" ! Rob
  9. Have been many times, & has been said, i'm old enough to remember there not being a fence round it & you could climb it/go inside it. Rob
  10. Lol !, might try it then !. Rob
  11. I've got the stihl multi tool system, & have the extension bar to use with the chainsaw head, but was told that the hedgecutter attachment was to heavy to use with the extension, so i've never used the 2 together, but is this the case & has anyone ever used it like that ? Rob
  12. A guy up north, who lived in a terraced house, did something similar, under hi loft hatch. The row of houses were suffering burglaries, over the summer period as the owners went away on leave, it was suspected they were coming through the loft space. So this guy got a 3ft x 3ft piece of ply, knocked a large number of 3" nails in it, placed it under the loft hatch, but put a rug on top so it could'nt be seen. He came back from leave to a horrible smell & dried blood all up the walls & on the carpet, it looked like as the burglar had dropped from the loft, he'd put his hands on the floor to break his fall, so not only had the nails gone through his reeboks but also his hands ! Rob
  13. Not got a trailer at the moment, but have had need for one a few times recently, & have had to line out(with tarps)the back of my van a toyota hiace. I don't currently have storage for one, but would like one with mesh sides thats wide enough to take the treebusta sideways so i can chip into it. Rob
  14. I've recntly quoted for(& won)a contract, although nothing as large as this sounds, but i quoted a one off fee for certain aspects, then an hourly rate for the maintenance. Rob

    Mower

Thanks Daniel, i thoght this would be the case, & queried it with the guy in the show room(something & Chattel, at Nottm)but he said no they could'nt have the height of the bars raised, mind he also said he could'nt see what my problem was,as it was high enough anyway, but when you are a smurf, i suppose everything looks bigger.... Shame that, as there was a new 21"(ex showroom)one for sale via ebay for £530 down at Bracknell. Rob

    Mower

Following all the recomendations on here i went to look at an izzy, but i found them, or the handle to low, causing me to having to "stoop" over it. I'm not tall(5'10")but found them to low for me. I the end i got a 21" rover, to go with the 27yr old(had it from new) 18" rover i already have. Hope it proves to be as reliable. Rob
  17. Thanks again gents your help is much appreciated. Regards, Rob

  21. We were caught in traffic one day, & while sat there, a fat bloke in shorts & flipflops comes out his house with a chainsaw & a pair of steps, leans the steps against the hedge starts the saw, climbs the steps & starts to cut the hedge... Rob
  22. I got the job, & i'm prepared to wait the 90 days, & has been said there is a small amount of work through the winter months, to come from it, with that expanding to cover next spring etc... They are part of a larger company, but i don't want to travel anywere else in the country, so not planning on expanding to that degree. Just need a new mower & a blower now. Rob
  23. Thanks again. I've seen the echo b/pack blowers for £299 new, so they are good then ?, looks like i could buy new then. Struggling to find harrythecat. Regards, Rob
  24. I once had a call while off duty telling me that some one i'd arrested was on there, & i laughed about & thought no more of it. Less than half a mile later, i actualy saw her stood at the side of the road, mouthing off on her mobile. As i'm now retired i can call her what she is, an obnoxious drug dealing s**g. Rob
  25. Thank you folks, the advice & feed back is appreciated. There is a guy on ebay with a quantity of ex council mowers, with 4 estesias among them, & he's only at Nottm which is close to me. I will look up harrythecat & see what he's got. Regards, Rob
