  1. Got a Uniforest 35E for my 40 hp alpine tractor - brilliant winch once you get used to it......
  2. It helps when your 130 has the EGR blanked off, a better free flowing exhaust, had a JE Engineering Stage 1 remap (395 NM at 1800 rpm) and air assist springs at the rear......
  3. Hi Graham, how's the foot? how's the Retort? Regards, Matt
  4. We use to supply in the same vented 1.2m3 bags the firewood was dried in - tipping the bags off. Now we process into a mix of log crates & vented bags but deliver only loose. Reduces handling & at any given moment you know how much stock you have & its retail value.
  5. After working outdoors in all weathers for the last 30 years, my knees are shot. Had keyhole surgery last week to alleviate the pain & symptoms as I'm too 'young' at 45 for a replacement knee.......
  6. Defender 130 - 1.5 ton payload, 3.5 ton towing
  7. 1. Resend invoices each month reminding them that overdue invoices attract 4.5% per month after 30 days 2. Give last warning after 6 months 3. Take to Small Claims Court 4. Still no payment - threaten to take to High Court and involve High Court Enforcement Officers.. 5. They tend to see the light at this stage - a CCJ is bad enough, but a High Court Writ is whole lot of trouble & extra publicity that debtors don't want / need....
  8. Defenders have rock solid residuals - paid £15K for my 2004 130 tipper 3 years ago, have put 55,000 miles (now at 168,000 miles) on it and it's never missed a beat. Got offered £12K for it recently - try getting that for a 10 yr old Toyota Hilux!
  9. Dark and damp.....in bedford
  10. Love mine to bits - best investment I've made. Matt
  11. I have a 2004 Td5 Defender 130 tipper, remapped by JE Engineering to give more bhp & lots of low down torque. 1.5 ton payload. Stripped out the double coils on the rear and fitted air springs - better ride when empty
  12. Talk to Phil Newson at PR Newson Ltd - he used to produce & supply Woodfuel chip, with customers including Stanstead Airport who burn 10000+ tonnes a year. He saw the writing on the wall and moved away from producing/supplying chip to contract chipping only with 2 trailed Jenz chippers. He's got lot of info.
  13. That why I love the Webasto cab & engine Hester on my 130 - set the timer, the night before, come out to a defrosted, warm Defender......... Then the heated seats take care of any residual cold.......
  14. Gomtaro 300mm - been using once since they first appeared in UK in 1993. Can't fault it.
  15. Hi Arb, I've got a number of domestic Woodfuel pellet customers who have 3 - 4 tonnes a year each, I also sell 1/4 pallets to installers commissioning biomass boilers, I've got reasonable margins but then I order 24x pallets at a time - mixed loads (briquettes, pellets, equestrian pellets), so the unit costs are lower. At the end of the day it's just another product line / revenue stream. Matt
  16. How logs are seasoned in a combination of vented bulk bags and log crates undercover in ventilated barns. Spot check on moisture contents this week give a range of 15 - 18% (pin method) & 16% (oven dry test).
  17. 10 x 1.2m3 & 40x bags of kindling over the weekend, along with 3xtonnes of Woodfuel pellets...
  18. Website, parish newsletters, Twitter - @HertsWoodFuel, signage on truck
  19. The alpine tractor has been working hard....
  20. Hi John, is the forward control an old sprayer?
  21. I have a JE Engineering stage 1 remap, my manifold studs have loosened, so there are 2 options to consider, Alisport sports manifold or JE Engineering offer a manifold stud kit with special spacers that allow the manifold to move without whistling.
  22. It's a bit damp....
  23. Hi Kevin, The waterwheel is a grade1 listed structure within the woodland. Purpose was to drive a hydraulic press used in gunpowder production. History of the site can be found here: http://www.secretisland.co.uk. Matt
  24. I've just stacked this in a woodland we are managing...... With more still to fell.....
