  2. It's a bit damp....
  3. Hi Kevin, The waterwheel is a grade1 listed structure within the woodland. Purpose was to drive a hydraulic press used in gunpowder production. History of the site can be found here: http://www.secretisland.co.uk. Matt

  10. Get a WoodPellet boiler, the efficiency of the boiler is much higher due to the consistent moisture content of the 6mm pellet. Bagged or loose, easy to store & in plentiful supply.

  12. Got 2 Viking mulch mowers - 650 & 655VM. Both 2 years old, used 5 days a week from March to October and still going strong. No issues just like anything made by Stihl... Matt
  13. 1.2m3 loose @ £115 2.4m3 loose @ £225 All barn dried in vented bags / log crates. Moisture content 17 - 20%, checked using pin method & oven dry test. Woodsure+ Plus Accreditated

  15. Evening Jon, 175 bhp & 395 NM Torq
  16. You will be up against the big contractors who get all the public sector work - like John o Connor, Tillbrooks, Frank Cooper, Glendale. All with big pockets for the best kit, who will be able to undercut you. We've got 4x school contracts, we don't make a lot in the summer due to the number of cuts required. The big contractors with 20+ schools can afford to loose money on the smaller sites as they have economies of scale on their side.
  17. I get about 30mpg out of my td5 130 (it's been tweeted by JE Engineering and has bags more torque than a std defender - even a new Puma!) It does what it does - day in, day out regardless of the weather. Yes, it's a tight cab and can have a harsh ride on the road - but it's how you drive it. I've got air springs on the rear, so can soften the ride when the tipper is empty, yet pump them up when carrying a full load or towing the trailer. Service costs vary - depends how hard it's used, just had an annual service at Foley Land Rovers and it cost £744 inc VAT.
  18. Hi John, what's a "high cube system"? Thanks Matt
  19. You need a trailed Gang mower for a football pitch. Either powered or in-powered. We've used a Hayter 7-Gang mower, takes less than 1/2hr. Alternatively a Hayter or Ransomes 3-cylinder ride-on gang would take longer. During the summer, you'd have to cut once a week or 2 - 3 times per month. Matt
  20. We are looking for qualified & experienced climbers to join our busy tree surgery subsidiary. Chainsaw & Ariel Rescue tickets essential, as are first aid qualifications. Full driving licence required. We're also looking for experienced grounds staff with appropriate chainsaw tickets, first aid certificates & a full driving licence. In the first instance, please call our arborist manager - Andy Mason on: 07831 359602 / 07846 590254 or email him at: [email protected] Thank you.
  21. Here's a little of our HETAS WoodSure+ accredited log piles....
  22. I had Subaru Justy's - an F-reg, great on slimy roads, sporty multivalve 3cylinder engine, put M&S tyres on it and it loved the muddy tracks in Derbyshire.
  23. Get a secondhand Kubota f3060/f3680 with a Trimax flail
  24. Use EcoPlugs. Drill 13mm hole to correct depth. Bang in with hammer & leave. Safe to handle. Safe around children, pets etc.
  25. We've just taken on a large woodland and are taking all timber felled as payment for the work. It's all high quality sycamore & Alder - nice straight stems. Most is being sold as firewood cord or for charcoal, some for veneer timber. Where there is specialist tree surgery involved (close to listed structures), we're charging for the work BUT returning the value of the timber to owners to help offset the work.
