  1. magnetics, keep spare on side of trailer
  2. Thanks for input guys. It did cross my mind to buy new rollers but as I've been living in Yorkshire for over 25yrs now I find it hard parting with 'Brass'. Will attempt job and see.
  3. I am facing the task of replacing the feed roller blades on my chipper, badly worn, not helped by chipping my loppers!! General opinion is that removing the blade bolts is a bastard. I searched on here and found Aspenarbs post re welding nuts on. As my welding skills are iffy at best and I use a stick welder I see problems with this method. Having years of experience changing blades I am aware of the importance of cleaning out the debris before fitting the tool. Any advice please before I start. cheers
  4. had a pre hdi version, excellent, towed the 252 behind it for years. no problem. last one was 05, engine management went wrong, scrap!
  5. Yes logs are seasoned, only burn Ash and Beech, save the best for personel use:001_smile: stove is a Firefox 5 the complaint wasnt caused by smoke, I dont believe, just miserable neighbours! head of residents commitee doest like my logstore with sedum roof, tried to tell me I needed planning permission !!
  6. yes it was sold as multifuel and I bought the woodburning kit with it
  7. confused, three years ago I installed a defra approved stove, in a smokeless zone, and had the work signed off by the council planning dept. Now have a letter from the council environmental heath dept saying 'it has been reported to them, by a neighbour, that I am burning logs.' They go on to state that as I live in a smokeless zone I can only burn fuel off the approved list, needless to say logs aren't on the list! They state that if I continue they will consider prosecuting me! Before I ring them I wondered if anyone can advise me?
  8. do you guys use a full compliment of greenteeth? Dont they suggest 6 teeth? On 252
  9. I have been using rayco supertooth on my vermeer for some years, as I am about to purchase two new sets I thought it may be time for a change. I am thinking yellow jackets? Please can I get comments/ recommendations What advice is out there? cheers
  10. can someone let me know what size belt I need for the hydraulic pump on a vermeer252 please? Machine is back at the yard and I forgot to look this morning! Thanks
  11. yer I've toyed with the idea. small jobs, used to toy my vermeer 252 with a partner van, easy up to it. thought it would be usefull with an ifor williams, farmer type, canopy! think the fiat has 3 seats as well also looking at the design, possibly some under body storage, as in the old vw transporter?
  12. I looked at those 'little tippers', carry 800kg. Thats about the same as a crewcab transit tipper!!
  13. not a landrover but I use a tata tipper with alloy chip body, it replaced a transit with chip body on. The weight carrying ability (legally) is almost the same but the tata is 2.2m3 and the transit was 5.8m3. I miss the ability to carry the volume but far less likely to be overloaded! Its very easy to put 3t of chip on a transit!!!
  14. get a local tent/marquis company to stitch up a section of tarp X length and 3' ish high withfolds along the length to push road pins through.
  15. bought a cheap Aldi 2kw saw 3 years ago, £45, still £45 I believe. oregon bar and chain. Its great for logging at the yard, Its not as good or powerfull as usual saws (stihl) but is what it is.
  16. Why not do it yourself? Its not too difficult, get a tipper from a breakers (transit) cut it down and have it welded. Build your own ally back, materials from Aalco or Service metals, really easy to work with. Did mine for under £1k
  17. Reported a lime green transit whose occupants stole my blower (saw them but couldnt get to them in time), turns out it was wanted for 3 burglaries and several other crimes, police chase across into Lancashire, crash, arrest. 9 months latter the driver is charged with reckless driving only!! doesnt turn up to court and gets 6 points on the licence he hasnt got!! WTF
  18. some years ago I replaced mine with a 28hp diesel twin, used it for many years, bloody unstopable. Not a simple job though!! Isnt there a kohler v twin on ebay at the moment?
  19. you can still buy the real stuff , its sold for commercial use only, comes in 25l drums
  20. we do lots of this! use a hoe upside down:001_smile:
  21. back in the 80s the was a trailer/ chipper combination (pro chip??) it had issues with nose weight. with the chipper at the front, chipping into a box behind, it had too much nose weight when empty and chipper at rear had negative nose weight when empty. I think you would need a movable (sliding) axle. Put chipper on chassis of prime mover and chip into tipping trailer! I tried this years ago but the feed to chipper was too high , on landrover!
  22. Had a golf course ask me to take out 40+ stumps but I had to assure them that I would only use a wheeled grinder. Seems they had a guy with a tracked machine some years ago and it did too much damage so they had been accumulating stumps since. Only conditions applied were keep off the greens and stop work to allow golfers to play nearby. Watch out, you do seem to become a target!!!
  23. often thought about this myself, usually when pushing it up a sloping drive or getting it up ramps into shed. have a front tow hitch for these purposes but it would be a damn sight easier with electric motors fitted!
