  4. something seems odd about this one too 2006 RAYCO RC6D CHIPPER
  5. anybody help with the original question?
  6. Can anyone give me a definitive answer as I cant find it myself!! It seems general opinion is that less teeth on the 252 is better, quicker, ?? I have a full compliment of 'super teeth' on at the mo Thinking of changing over to a replaceable tooth type, as in yellow jacket but am uncertain as to the number. help
  7. always get my stihl kit from Bolton Abbey Mowers, Ilkley. good service
  8. My two peneth worth... take the rear tub off and either get a second hand transit tipper and cut it down or take the bare chassis to a vehicle builder and have one built, dought if it would cost any more than that. Ive cut down a transit frame and fitted alloy high sides (service metals) total cost about £1000 inc tool lockers.
  9. on second partner, old style non turbo 1.9, swear by them. Use for pricing, running around, carrying tools and for a couple of years towing stump grinders. cheap and chearful. recommend.
  10. timtree can i ask where you sourced these? just sitting here working out a cutting list for the new tranny body
  11. Seeing the old boy with the horse, we saw an amazing sight in Leeds a coupe of months ago. Didnt have a camera as I was on an old spare phone but 2 eastern european guys towing an old chipper,( couldnt tell what but looked like a small type gibbs woodchuck but heavy) chipping into the back of a citreon estate through the broken rear window! drove past and there seemed to be a blanket hanging behind the front seats but a huge amount of dust was coming out of the open drivers window!! saw the same car 2 days later towing a trailer behind the chipper again didnt have the time to track it down an photo it as it was in the opposite lane on the ringroad. havent seen it since. supprising thing was these guys had stihl saws and safety clothing on. ladders and climbing kit.
  12. Timtree, what have you made the sides out off? looks like alloy planks but they look very wide!
  13. theres a guy round here who has a frame welded on his landie bumper with a pulley wheel mounted at the top. uses it to lift a snowplough thats mounted on 3 link arms. works well.
  14. yer agree with skyhuck, my 88 runs fine on 50;1 modern oils are a different breed from the old stuff. I have a 1971 danarm 177 on a mill and it runs well on stihl 50;1 and the handbook said 40;1 !
  15. make some! look up your nearest Service Metals, go online order what you need, they will supply to a cutting list, drill and rivit together. It will only take you a day.
  16. few years ago i came across a RFS jounal from jan 1964, the month/yr i was born! saved away. really interesting adverts for 'lightweight' chainsaws!!
  17. my mate had his transit nicked from outside his house. police told him the thieves use a bump key to open the door and release the steering then a speclift truck backs up and hooks on. gone in 2 mins (or less). the police said they had knowledge of a gang operating in the Yorkshire area !! Alarm seems the only answer.
  18. fitted one to my Partner, took an hour, pulls trailer with sc252 no problems. Make sure you get fitting the chassis spacers right. aprt from that dead easy. Get everything tightened up right, kits come with nylon nuts so shouldnt work loose.
  19. On 2 occasions ,in the distant past, I have carried out the same henious crime; Take the chain off a saw when servicing it and put it back together without chain, check repeatedly that it has no chain, Start the saw and go for the youngest guy! Really really wrong. No. 1, (left to joln the marines) fell backwards, screaming, very funny at the time ! No 2, (laziest d--khead ever) stood completely still and shat himself!!! had to take him home. NOT TO BE DONE
  20. from experience, tell your insurance company you have a winch and they seem to think you will be offroading and also makes vehicle more desirable to un desirables! But you should always infrom them! Had a rear winch under the floor of a swb Landy exiting through rear crossmember, pulls you out of mud not into.
  21. whats the cost of a Loler cert? We have an old series Landy with a 9m platform on, large hydraulic winch on the front with anchors (very similiar to Apens) and quick attachmnt points for hydraulic tools. It gets used twice a year for some very high leyland hedges. I know I should get it tested but is this a legal requirement for an owner user? Also would it pass as there are no safety switches, meaning legs can be raised/lowered without the boom home and vice versa.
  22. I have three stump grinders and am attempting to change direction with my work to do grinding for other guys but so far I am only picking up 3-4 jobs a week and most people seem to want it doing whilst they are taking the trees out, this makes programing the work difficult. I think it takes some time to build up a reputation, most guys already have someone who does it for them.
  23. found a pair of old school brass compass about 80-90ft up a beech in Notts about 1984. once climbed a big chestnut in a park in Oxford and found a strop I had left in the tree 7yrs before!
  24. I'm not sure if this post should be here but; I have an old trailer on ebay that I had built to carry my old Dosko grinder (would fit a Danequip) Trailer 4 x 3 heavy duty stump grinder | eBay The drive wheels drop into the chassis and the cutter head fits into a bracket on the main backbone and is held in with a pin. There are two alloy ramps that clip onto the rear. I havent used it for a while and its been stood on its end under a leanto. May be of interest to someone!
  25. Its an old mtd leaf vac. Has a wander hose about 6" diam, Very heavy duty steel work (pro 4mm ish). The handlebars were chrome but now rust, used to self propel but not anymore and the engine is old, briggs & stratten needs rebuilding or replacing. I used to maintain the grounds of a hotel and bought it to fit to a trailer, never happened! see ebay item 331366385342
