  2. yeh, car tyres in a builders bag, always worked for me
  3. Yer originally going to use antiluce but lack of space and design didnt allow. Have found the ideal handles/locks, helpful company and really fast delivery. Lockable Flush T handle with compression latch, Vector series will post a picture when done, still waiting for dropside hinges to arrive! and back at work now so will have to be a saturday project
  4. my old entec truckloader didnt have a serial number! I rang entec some years back and they said early machines didnt have serial numbers! just a comment..
  5. I am looking for tool storage on my transit tipper, silly money! Asked tipmaster at the arb show, something like £2000+ ! Will probably go for alloy checkerplate box from Metallics UK Ltd who quoted me £800 for box width and height of cab and about 18" wide with locking doors. Didnt want roller shutters as they take up too much space but they quoted £1000 for a box fitting over the chassis (lower at ends) with roller shutters. check them on ebay
  6. can anyone help with this? Over Christmas I have converted a pickup tipper to a chip body with a tool locker. The sides are alloy planks (service metals) and hinge down. There is a cross bed tool locker, 14" square and I have built the sides with a corner cut out to give access to the locker. Hope this makes sense! The doors to the locker are also alloy planks and hinge down but this is where my plans stop!! I need a lockable handle to recess in the alloy and a mechanism on the rear to engage in the box frame (2" sq box), maybe something that engages in a hole either side? Help/ advice, comments please:confused1:
  7. rather drive a bedford than a Matador! have driven both. Also a Landrover fc 2b with an old perkins engine ****
  8. Any thoughts on Skodadogs question? I am having the same idea
  9. In Leeds we ring Parking services the day before and explain that the work is needed and give our reg number. they issue the reg to the warden in that area and you get left alone. seem to only be happy with 2 - 4hrs max so we dont push it.
  10. I,m with goaty, on my second Partner (berlingo in disguise) , use it for small jobs, towing grinder, jobs where I only need tools, pricing etc. Also have a tipper transit but little van is sound. Started out with astramax and trailer and its true, with practice you can get a serious amount on a 8' trailer. Personaly I dont like mesh sides, instead I had alloy scaff poles x3 on either side, makes loading easier amd lift poles out to roll load of the side. hook a couple of ropes on to the tie hooks on one side, lay ropes over trailer bed, load trailer and leave rest of rope on top of load. At tip take poles out one side where the ropes are hooked on , get hold of ropes and pull. load rolls over the side.
  11. contacted local truck breakers, 6m x 2m wagon side £100 thats more like it!!
  12. apologies for bringing up an old subject; i am toying with using grp panel for the fixed sides on a chip body instead of alloy planking. have spent a couple of evenings on tinternet but i am not much wiser. has anyone experience with this material ? where to buy, have used service metals for planking and see they stock it. which version to use at what thickness? maybe honeycomb version but is it strong enough? panel size 2600 x 1200
  13. geoff, have a pair thats been in my drawer for 10yrs, yours for the postage if you want?
  14. for what its worth.... After many combinations over the years I am back to a single cab Transit with tool locker and alloy body, its a single wheeler. I can legally carry 1 ton. I am half way through building my own arb tipping body on a chassis cab twin wheeler using a steel frame and alloy plank body.
  15. peatff, fair point pretty much decided just thought i would throw it out there, like i said not my first.
  16. promised myself I would get a tattoo for my 50th! have one out of sight from my younger days. Problem is I cant find/ design anything I really like, I have a handfull of ideas to discuss with the tatooist. Design is to go on my upper arm and needs to be tree related as I have been 'playing' with trees for 32 years. Had an Oak leaf design in mind but missus pointed out it was damn nearly thr National Trust logo. any ideas etc please whats yours?
  17. wrsni, yes very true, after thinking about it will strip the engine and see what the problem is. Its an old M18 opposed twin, these are obselete now so not sure of the parts situation but have nothing to loose. does anyone know what the main difference is between the same engine with horizontal crank and vertical crank? The is a vertical crank model on fleabay.
  18. killed my dosko stump grinders kohler engine today, somethings badly broken inside, time for a replacement. cant afford a new kohler so have been looking at a launtop 20hp v twin, £520+, its chinese! I've not had good times with chinese stuff, i realise the standards not good but i have heard these are the best of the bunch. advice please. am halfway through a job and the access is too narrow for the vermeer 252 so i need to sort this one asap.
  19. fair moves you... lad who works for me said his girlfreinds mum wrote to Guy asking for an autograph, when he was racing, and the fella sends her a Christmas card every year....... sound bloke cross between Ron Haslam and Fred Dibna
  20. Stump grinding in Harrogate today, boards on lawn, rain down neck!!!
  21. nepia, yes thats the stuff. I posted about it before but the general conscensus was 'bad idea'. These guys have them built in it, everything apart from the tool box doors, all bonded and strengthened internally with the same material. The one on the stand was 2 yrs old and perfect. think the makers plate said said 'pick up solutions'
  22. did anyone else spot the back body on the 4x4 pickup on the Ground Control stand? spoke to the guy on the stand and he says all their pickups have the same chip box on. Built from re-cycled plastic ! me like
  23. £35k for the conversion + £35k for the truck + £5k for the tipper !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. cool idea, will match my underwear!!
