  1. I definitely could not cope with that!
  2. My guess is they both arrived about the same time. If I am wrong wtf were they thinking to allow building of a house that close to an existing tree.
  3. Never heard of that trick, I am going to have to try it. I grow them for planting myself rather than selling them. I make a lot of apple juice. edit: in fact I make a lot of bloody good apple juice. Current holder of best juice in show trophy at Bath and West. Sorry for blowing my own trumpet there but what's the point of having a trumpet if you don't blow it.
  4. You grafted two year old wood onto them? Can't say I've heard of that before. Guess it's worked though as fruit on them is going to help them sell. £8 sounds cheap, I want more than that. Here's mine.
  5. How much and how did you get fruit on them? Guessing you had flower buds on the scion.
  6. A fella busked in a nearby city for years, his Rolls was parked around the corner (true story) I deal with it by simply avoiding towns and cities. Works very well.
  7. Nope. My days off are one weekend in three. Was woken at 10:30 today.
  8. Diquat does very nearly the same thing but without the smell.
  9. Very important! I'm not taking to a high horse or anything but just don't do it.
  10. Having looked at those links (thanks for posting them) I am more inclined to think it is dieback I have here. The picture on page 15 of the Suffolk Council report is pretty much exactly what happened with the tree the top fell out of. That particular tree first showed signs that all was not well with it long before dieback hit the news. I'd say it could easy be 10 years back. It looks as healthy as anything now.
  11. You can only find one healthy Ash tree in Norfolk? That's a bit dramatic. If the trees in my pic are showing the advanced stages of crown thinning from Chalara how come I can't find an infected sapling and so many young trees here look in perfect health? I'm not arguing, I am genuinely asking. The trees I am talking about are on my farm, 90 acres in Cheshire and just random wild saplings. Plenty of them.
  12. I am far from convinced it is dieback yet. Took. Couple of pics of that other tree, the one the top fell off a couple of years back (probably longer). Zoom in and you can see the peeled bark and rotted centre. Tree looks as healthy as anything and has made strong new growth. I always suspected lightning tbh on that tree.
  13. No it doesn't but I'm still not sure if it is dieback or not. Having looked into it a bit more the tree should show diamond shaped lesions, well I didn't notice them. I will have another look. Is there a dieback expert on here or someone I can ask to look at the pics for me? Or is it just so endemic now that there's nothing much notable about it?
  14. Is this Die-back? I'm hoping it is something else. The young tree near this one had something strange wrong with it. It dies off at the top, the bark peeled off and the top fell off completely. It then grew back seemingly healthy from half way up. It's about 20' tall now. These pics are a nearby tree that is much bigger.
  15. Have you not heard the saying? A woman, a whelp (dog) and a walnut tree, For a good beating the better they be. I don't hold with animal cruelty or domestic violence but that tree does look like it wants a good beating. The effect is to knock off all the dead wood.
  16. Exactly. You should look after yourself and your finances.
  17. I'm burning it. I don't like the big stuff that's gone fluffy though.
  18. I employ Romanians. Good honest hard working lads that do what i ask, when i ask to the standard I ask. They all pay tax and NI and are paid exactly the same rate as UK workers (ie. they are definitely not cheap labour) I can't find UK people willing to do the work. The ones I get are feckin useless for want of a better description. A nearby employer in the same game as me described the UK folk that turned up as the dregs of humanity, I'd say he was being kind. All this crap about foreigners coming here and stealing UK jobs is nonsense. UK workers at the lower end of the pay spectrum don't want to know.
  19. Chip it back to them through their letter box. Then tell them it wasn't you.
  20. Good call. I was playing spot the difference and completely missed that one.

Good luck mate, hope you mend well.
  22. Dirty Dog Polarised lenses, you choose the style.
  23. I would want to know what caused it before just fitting a new top.
